I'm not against the idea of paying for online service, but I am if it doesn't include basic features like lobbies or voice chat without the need for a phone. If you need to use your phone to use online, Nintendo shouldn't be charging you money for it.
I would happily give up the "free" game each month in exchange for lobbies and voice chat on the console.
As long as online lobbies and voice chat remain stuck in an iphone app, the subscription will remain pure garbage. This is basic online functionality that should be built into the system, not a third party device.

The single biggest issue is Nintendo daring to charge a monthly sub for online, and the player needing an Iphone with the right Iphone app to join lobbies and voice chat with their friends.

Ranked matches don't work to begin with anyway. In every game I've played that tried to match players with similar skill levels, I am always paired up with super-humans.
I will never forget Infinity Wars though. My first ranked match, as a noob with a noob deck, paired me against the then #1 ranked player in the game. I was utterly destroyed. I should have recorded it. This type of thing happens to me all the time.

If you're going to pursue a career in politics, you absolutely do need to be able to withstand criticism. Third-party support is more than AAA titles. Having third-party support depends a great deal on how easy Nintendo can make it for indie devs to develop games for the Switch. Indie devs generally don't need a lot of horsepower.
I'm pretty sure Terraria or Don't Starve could run on the Switch, and I'm sure there will be more innovative titles like those in the future. The key is enabling the developers of those games as much as possible.

The all solid-state media does give it better hardware than the PS4 and Xbone. We are about to see a repeat of the Ps1 versus N64 generation. Yes the Ps1 discs could store more data, but the loading times were horrendous. The transfer rate of optical discs are total crap and both the Ps4 and Xbone rely on it. Ps3 had free online, and that's why I got one last gen. But Ps4 does not, in addition Sony pulled a lot of crap last gen, like removing OtherOS, removing backwards compatibility, and the adware update that forced everyone to get the banner advertisement and put store icons in every category on the main menu.
