I have Chivalry Medieval Warfare on PC and this seems similar? I like Chivalry, even though the community is terrible at times. I might pick this up on PC. Shame it's not coming to the Switch.

I agree. The Switch is a core gamer's console and it focuses less on the gimmicks and more on gameplay.
The critics aren't taking several things into account:
1. Handheld play is optional. It's a selling point that all the games can be played in handheld or console mode.
2. The touchscreen can't be used in console mode, so there's won't be any Wii U disasters forcing you to use it like Star Fox Zero.

I hope not. I was hoping I would have their mobile library on the Switch. Doing this means they would be splitting their game library into console and mobile again.
Which is really stupid. Putting both their libraries on the Switch means they can manufacture one device for both audiences, and provide a larger game library to both. It's more efficient, more cost-effective, and appeals to a larger audience.

If you want a traditional console experience, you can have that. No one is putting a gun to your head and forcing you to undock it. They even have a pro controller so you don't have to use the joy-cons. This time the gimmick really is optional.

My wet dream for the Switch would be an Armored Core title for it. I looove AC: For Answer and the only reason I'm keeping my Ps3 around is for that. It's my favorite Ps3 game. I tried AC5 but didn't like it. I like the fast-paced aerial combat in AC4.

Bundling two joycons with the console means they might be focusing more on splitscreen gaming again. This would be huge. I had more fun with the SNES and N64 with splitscreen games than I ever did in the Xbox/Ps3 generation.
Online gaming is fun, but consoles lost a lot of their magic when I couldn't sit on a couch with friends and all play a game together.
It's not about competing with Ipads. It's about their shame over the Wii U. It was their most unpopular console to date, and Star Fox Zero totally bombed. Touchscreens suck for gaming. It's why they are going back to sticks and buttons again with the Switch.
