I'm reading a lot of hate against the PS3 but did nobody notice that the company as a whole is doing better than previously thought. I thought that Sony was going to live or die by the PS3 but if it can post an operating profit WITH the losses that the PS3 is accumulating then I'm tempted to say they'll be fine.

Good point man. The industry puts alot stock in the holiday season. Of course they're not the only ones(Toy, Electronics, Retail). A good portion of these sales come from the holiday season. On the other hand as a shareholder I would feel pretty good when I look at the whole issue: We took a $1.8 billion hit yet as a company we still posted a profit of .39 a share on revenue of about 12 or 13 billion. Despite the losses from the gaming divisions both companies as a whole(Microsoft and Sony) ...
This is bad news for the GAMING DIVISION of Sony. The company itself posted a operating profit for the quarter which means SONY as a company is fine. This gives them a tiny cushion for error(though not much) because their main division(Consumer Electronics) is booming.
I'm getting really sick and tired of seeing those 3 letters tossed around haphazardly. You do realize that a AAA is determined by it's budget right? While I don't care too much about the 360 I DO like Windows and MS alongside it(Since I hate Apple with all my being). This news that I like to see!!! Confirmed from business sites and good financial health for the company. It's great because if Sony's other divisions keep carrying the company, the PS3 has a little more time develop without eating all the comany's profit, which in turn is great because it keeps this a 3 way competition which is great for us gamers.
Let's keep in mind that the operative term is May. It's not set in stone that they'll fall short of their goal although they will need to hustle if they want to get it done by their fiscal year. But momentum is key. It's the reason why the Wii and the 360 are selling better.
Having loved GT ever since the first one, I must truly say although I have no doubt the game will be great the wait is ridiculous. I am a firm believer that quality takes time but damn this is getting crazy.

Is that the only reason why people disagreed with me? Be serious there are certain companies/games that will be scrutinized by people no matter what they do. Halo 3 for example, which I thought was a great game, has been bashed mercilessly. The same thing with the PS3. I never said feel sorry for them because bottom line they are a international corporation with Billions of dollars in revenues. I just said they will be bashed no matter what. It's not fair but neither is life. Get serious.
