Two keywords that outline what you need to consider when talking about XP and Vista. It's all a matter of personal preferance and (in the case of Vista) having the patience to accept that maybe not every single game in your back catalog will work but that more and more games will migrate from working on just XP to working on Vista+XP, then eventually being focused on Vista, but that's a very long way off.
I don't see how having a background in any kind of IT service instantly m...
The West is ahead of the East? Where do most of the components come from that make up these consoles? In fact where do most of the consoles come from?
Two consoles are based in Japan, one in the US. Then if you count the handhelds Japan pulls away even more.
I read a little while ago that Japan is actually ~5 years ahead of most of the rest of the world in terms of tech research. TV's, gadgets etc that sort of stuff. Holographic-styled TV's and all that (Projecto...
I disagree, other than Home the 'killer line up' was always considered a line up including MGS4, Killzone 2 and FF (Always down as 08 releases). '07 for Home was pushing it a bit, and in-game XMB was never official until now. I'd only had my PS3 for a few months when Home was supposed to come out last year. With the delayed European release as a result there was less of an opportunity for a worldwide Beta, less testing = Bad Home so delayed for greater testing and improvements. A good thing, ...
When MGS4 is released my Uni will have finished for the year, leaving more time for gaming. If it had been released Feb/March I'd be too busy to sit down and play for any length of time.
Plus we have Killzone 2 to look forward to, LBP was supposed to be here this year and then there's Home in the spring too.
2008 is going to be great!
I see your point but it's not the same thing, each console is indeed a successor to that before it but the Wii is not a true next gen console, in fact some of its games look worse than those on N64 which isn't a step forward its a step back and next gen consoles are supposed to push gaming forward in terms of the looks, the gameplay and the overall experience of gaming. The Wii manages to be innovative but isn't an upgrade graphically at all, the precision of the Wiimote isn't good enough for...
In the face of the trojan horse remarks since the launch of the PS3, it looks like Sony have done it again with the familiarisation of a new format just like they did with the PS2 and DVDs.
Okay so it's not over yet, but I highly doubt things are going to change in HDDVD's favour, Blu-Ray now has what DVD had back in 2001/2 and that's a steadily growing popularity and Sony somehow have it perfectly timed with one of their best years for HDTV sales (which is soon to flourish eve...
I got the pack from the Warhawk Store that's been added by the 1.20 patch. Much easier :D
This article has already been proven wrong lol. Shopto.net are selling the PS3 version for £1 cheaper!
PS3 version = £36.99
360 version = £37.99
Dunno about the US pricing though.
I now use Shopto for all preorders, it's the cheapest online game retailer. Got Burnout Paradise, Killzone 2, MGS4 and GTAIV set and ready to go (when they're in stock obviously lol). Yep that's right, I'm already setting money aside for the expense ...
You say 'only on' as if it was supposed to be on other systems. Personally, I prefer playing RTS's on the PC, it's where they belong imo. While the 360 version of C&C3 was a successful console conversion, it's the ease of modding and editing on the PC that makes RTS's so much better on that platform.
Microsoft tend to be extremely edgy when it comes to user-created content. Since I like to play around with RTS's in terms of the modding side of them I would never dream of to...
Just had to say the Earth visualisation is an awesome addition!
For those that didn't know the original music player visualisation could be moved about using the right stick. But wow, the new one blows away all competition!
Unlike seemingly everyone else here I'm not too fussed about the DivX Xvid playback, have a laptop for that, but it's nice to know it'll work if I ever use it.
Just want Home to get here already! lol
Classical music goes soo well to carnage. I'm surprised they haven't thought of this before. Games like Hitman used classical music, people think of it as soft and innocent music but it works so well with violence and will fit perfectly to Burnout.
I totally agree!
In the past I've been to many shops for games and what not and the 360 has been pushed as the better console even though it has a failure rate worthy of a global recall.
However, as I mentioned way up above. I went looking for a HDTV the other day and the PS3 was being pushed as the best console mainly because the people there were looking for HDTV's and the PS3 was being promoted as the best console for HD gaming. There were quite a few groups o...
I shall soon be experiencing true Next-Gen HD Gaming when I get my HDTV for Christmas. Got the 60GB PS3 for a bargain back in June (£280, which is what the 40GB costs now lol) and have now moved my attention to the other component of true next-gen gaming, a HDTV.
As for Sony winning yet again, the PS3 has been seldom advertised over here in the UK which explains the low sales up to now, but while I was looking around for the HDTV I came across a rather amazing sight... in ...
Why should the number of PS3 users affect the GOTY? It has nothing to do with it.
GOTY should be COD4 imo. As much as Heavenly Sword and Uncharted have pushed for something different, COD4 has that overall brilliance with the SP and MP. Bioshock was a great game but was flawed. Mass Effect is also a great game and is up there near the top of the list imo.
Off many people's radar is Warhawk, one of the best MP games I've EVER played, a true pick up and play type o...
Just add 2 weeks to the release lol.
Used to be 2 days but this is next gen gaming remember!
Nah, seriously now, dunno when the UK release is but it's definately before Christmas if that helps at all...
This is the Australian release date ppl!
It seems like all people do on this site is read the heading and comment immediately...
I'm going for a 26" Sony Bravia for my room for Christmas. Anything bigger than that and it would look out-of-place and wouldn't be worth the higher price.
I would be too close to the screen to notice a significant 1080p difference anyway so 720p is what I want. A lot of HDTV's will run 1080i but for gaming, progressive scanning is the way to go.
A Sony HDTV to compliment the Sony PS3.
Toshiba was the other brand I was considering. Anyone know...
"screw them both, the 360 rules"
The figures say you're wrong, I wouldn't doubt the figures if I were you...
Soon enough the PS3 will be what the PS2 was before it, the leader in the console market. The 360 has had a whole year to get a good headstart and has released it's big hitters like Halo 3, yet it's already getting caught up by a system that still hasn't got it's major franchises out and has cost more than the 360 all year.
I belie...
"I would have purchased one already but now that the backwards compatibility is gone I will still be playing the PS2 anyway. Also I don't have a high def tv yet....."
Funny thing is I got a 60GB PS3 back in June for £280 which is what the 40GB is selling for now, talk about future perception eh lol, and I don't have a HDTV yet (It's a Christmas present I've been saving for).
Tbh you should get the PS3 before the HDTV, that way when you get a HDTV t...
I remember just a few months ago that whenever an article like this came up with an exec trying to beef up their console it turned into a fight over what was said rather than the actual point behind it.
Last year it was a case of whenever an MS employee said things to promote the console or a game on the console it'd be fine and the 'fanboyism factor' was low, but if someone from Sony said anything even remotely like the statements in this article there'd be some form of virtua...
