Great game, bad "review". Misinformed review in fact. All inhouse development and because it's likened to Gears it's apparantely just been switched to the Unreal Engine 3 overnight. Nice one.
Dark Sector is about an 8.5/10 in my book. It's not the first time I've disagreed with IGN (with their 7-something review of this game) and it won't be the last time either I'm sure, but at least IGN had done their research right...
Will be getting this soon. Just got back into PC gaming with Crysis and SupCom so a new C&C EP will go down a treat. Though I have Dark Sector to get through...
Looking good for EA at the moment. There's one thing I respect EA for and that's bringing back the old C&C Tiberium setting, building upon it is something I hope they don't mess up, for their sake, and from the looks of this EP I don't think they will anytime soon.
EDIT: The PC section is so barre...
You just know when you see an image of a helicopter raining fire down on a street full of cars that GTA is in town.
Looks awesome. Unlimited free roam would be great. I haven't heard much at all about MP in GTA4 so hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised when I get it. Should have Home by then (Hopefully :S), meeting people there and then taking to the streets of Liberty City sounds good to me :)
Here in the UK GT5 will be a huge hit, GT5:Prologue has already sold out in most places, the full game will be released around Christmas time and I'll be up for getting that :)
The other game that can generate huge hype is MGS4, also with toys and a movie on the way just like Gears only MGS is a much bigger franchise overall. It's been around for longer and has already established itself as a multimillion dollar hit globally.
Gears 2 cannot save the 360 by itself...
WH Smith, major games retailer? HAHA, ah dear that's an example of bad research right there.
If you want games cheap and delivered usually a day before release go to shopto .com. Both GTA4 versions are the same price at £37. I've also got at least 2 games from there a day before release.
Not WH Smith. They sell lots of books cheap, but not games.
Shop around people... just go shop around.
GT5 will have damage. Don't think Prologue will, but the full game will definately have damage. Don't know how many car makers have allowed Polyphony Digital to wreck the cars in the game but hopefully it'll be almost all of them. Afterall games like Burnout don't use real cars so they can wreck them as much as they like, but with GT it's different as it uses real cars and they need to have the backing of the car manufacturers for damage as I'm sure they all want their cars to be shown beauti...
Sony does good lookin products anyway so by just subtly adding the MGS4 Limited Edition text and keeping off the ugly limited edition images that are usually expected on LE stuff this PS3 turned out well. I'd rather have this than an ugly LE pic-covered thing *cough* LE Halo 3 360 *cough*.
As for having different covers, faceplates are available for the PS3. I've seen Gold, Blue, Red and some swirly graphic ones so without the MGS4 text this could be replecated. The text may no...
Sony never said ALL their games would be in 1080P they said the console would be able to output games in 1080P (There's no 'ALL games' in that).
I'd love a teleporter for my games, that'd be awesome!
The closest I'll get to a quantum teleporter or gate is playing Supreme Commander though... :(
Btw le killer Virgin have started selling Fibre optic broadband so that long way away just became now.

Why wait till it happens at E3. When my first PS2 stopped working (disc read error problem) a few years after getting it I got it repaired, then a year later it broke again and I left it till the new slimline came out and never had any probs with that. I still believe that getting it "repaired" only prolongs the inevitable. Why put up with shoddy products which should have been recalled once the failure rate hit 30% and fixed. I'm sure MS would have had everyone on it then, whereas ...
...buy a 360 lol.
Seriously though, it has to be Motorstorm 2 doesn't it :D
"I think you guys are retarded, no offence..."
First of all, that doesn't make an ounce of sense, you can't just put no offence after an insult to make it all better lol.
Anyway, Home is not a game it's a 3D XMB. If you don't want to have fun in Home playing games with your mates then fine, you can just use the Home PSP and get straight into a game. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Home actually replaces the XMB completely, instead of turning on the PS...
Home is a constant work in progress. It's not like a game where it goes Gold and then there's a release date.
What will probably happen (notice the 'probably' as no one knows for sure other than Sony) is that we'll get a public Beta in a month or so and when Home is completely stable online by patching it accordingly it will then be considered v1.0 but it'll still be updated, added to and improved over time.
It'll never be considered the final release.
...
I'm sorry, but if MGS4 ever comes to 360 it will have to have everything compressed to fit on a DVD and it doesn't sound like it would even fit on one disc when fully compressed.
Compression = lower quality.
It's getting to a ridiculous level of fanboyism where people start saying that having a multi-disc game over a single disc game is a good idea simply because they don't want to buy a PS3 to play MGS4.
That's a pathetic argument, why should we s...
In a few weeks I'm getting a new PC, having put up with a laptop for 3-4 years it's time for me to move back to a PC for gaming.
So I've plucked for the 8800GT 512MB as I can get it cheaper from the place that's putting my rig together than many other places.
I heard about the 9xxx series cards arriving but the price won't be worth it initially. It'll be better value getting the 8800GT then upgrading if it's needed. I suppose that'll all be pinned on how well the...
I've been following Petroglyph since they started work on Empire at War (Brill game btw) a few years back. This game seemed to me to be along the same lines of gameplay (hardpoints and galactic strategy gameplay etc) but all the reviews I've seen give it no higher than 8's.
So it's nice to see that some people rated it higher than that. It's also nice to hear that RTS fans like me can sink our teeth into UaW.
I'm currently awaiting it's arrival to my house. I got...
Out of all of my 3 term (unofficially copyrighted :D) titles that ranks near the top in terms of randomness.
Anyway, I think gaming has a positive impact on people's lives rather than what is suggested by the media as a whole that gaming ruins lives one way or another.
Personally, I'd rather have an ace sniper killing me on COD4 than downtown because there's no other release. Obviously that's tremendously extreme and shouldn't happen but I hope you see my point. ...
Home will actually bridge the gap between social networking and social gaming in the same space.
I'm looking forward to seeing what develops, afterall it's gonna be free!
"If you're a small studio doing a title every year... you probably find yourself in a pretty dangerous situation."
Although not a small studio there's nothing wrong with doing a title every year, just tell that to the guys behind Resistance and R&C, they say hi btw and would like you to check out Resistance 2 this year! :D
Anyway, I'm sure it's not a huge surprise that independant companies are dropping out of contention in the 'big' games market, h...
Exactly 78%? Not 77?
