...Mainly because the 360 is slowing down in sales unlike the PS2 did.
The PS2 sold so well because Sony pushed home it's advantage with the release of a slimline PStwo and the release of GTA:San Andreas. GTA:SA kept the PS2 steaming ahead up to this point, that's why PS2's are still selling because of their reputation.
The 360 has a lousy reputation in terms of it's hardware failures and has no HUGE games to grab people and pick up sales (Gears 2 will not grab t...
Sony have setup the console overlap period perfectly for both the PS1 to PS2 and the PS2 to PS3 changeovers.
It's been exactly 6 year each time they release a new console and about 10 before the movement to the next console is mainstream.
PS1 was released in 1994 (Globally late 1994). PS2 was released in 2000 (Globally late 2000) by 2004 the PS2 was everywhere. The PS3 was released in 2006 (Globally mid-2007) and by 2010 we can assume that the PS3 will be everywh...
Have they not learnt anything?! They're going to do exactly the same thing with the 360 to 720 move as they did with the Xbox to 360 transition, say "Bye guys we're moving on, buy this if you want to keep up".
They're going to have to wait a long time to release a new console though. The PS3 is supposed to last about the same length of time the PS2 did, approx 8 years before mass movement to the next level. The 360 doesn't have the legs for that length of time and MS ...
Firstly, this is the Gamer Zone not the Open Zone so less of the "HAHAHAHA PS3 has Blu-Ray" or "HAHAHA 2 Discs! WOW so last gen!", that stuff goes in the Open Zone. You can say that stuff as much as you want there so take it there instead.
Next, I want to point everybody's attention to the source of this rumour, since that's what it is... a rumour. The source is Xbox360Fanboy. To take this article as fact is like instantly accepting that Vampires watch you w...
Sony announced a while ago they were going to release major updates and tone down the frequency. If they release a 2.36 the 2.40 will be announced within a few weeks and we have 2 updates within a month of each other right there.
I think this info is bogus. 2.40 will include security updates to make sure it actually works for starters. This news appears (to me) to be boiled out of wanting to get people riled up over firmware updates.
2.40 is coming, that's a giv...
I just wanted to pick up on a few points:
"It's not a PC, and it saves people money, unlike making skus without main features like BC (40gb) for it's loyal gamers that can't afford the higer model"
The 40GB will have BC later this year added in for free as it's the only option in Europe now so without a 60GB BC SKU the 40GB has to be upgraded. Plus, I'm sorry but the 360 does look like a PC tower. The PS3 looks like a media centre hub with the card readers and ...
Some people like gossip, others like politics. This is news in it's own right, a written opinion from Milkman of 1up on the RPG conference can be classed as 'glossy news' in that it's more gossip than actual fact-based news.
I think that sort of answers it lol, it's actually tough classifying what shouldn't be included since pretty much anything could be considered news on this site!
btw I didn't disagree I just never agreed. Dunno where the phantom disagrees ar...
The 10th is incorrect and the 18th is the date to watch:
http://www.psxextreme.com/p...
I don't really mind when it comes out, it's a great update but I'm patient enough to wait for it.
I read elsewhere that June 10th was incorrect and it was June 18th to look out for. I read that about a week ago...
"There should be NO difference to multi platform games, if you claim the PS3 is infact so superior then by your logic every multi should be the same or higher res than the 360 counter part. you know, with no need for compression and having BLU-RAY n all."
That's not how it works. The systems work differently and require different kits to program for. The easiest way to make a game currently is to make it on the 360 (as it's been out longer and easier to develop for) t...
First of all thanks for the reasoned reply. The comment I picked up on was this:
"like someone else said, with all the great games for the 360, and a 3 year warranty, it's no risk at-all"
The no risk at all indicates there are no problems involved in owning a 360, however of course there are because of the reliability issues.
I'm sure you probably didn't mean it the way I took it and if so I apologise for running with it.
I checked those articles and neither are relevent. One is about a wireless wheel and the other is about faulty HDD's, neither of which are recalls by MS as xhairs just stated.
What I was saying before is that MS has tried it's hardest to avoid a 360 recall, the 3 year warranty is the prime example of fobbing people off to avoid losing money when actually the consumer should come first and leaving a defective product on the market is reason enough to take a dislike to MS.
...
Glad to hear that about Bloodmask, but High Definition was stating a very valid point, the 360 does (according to the figures) break more than other consoles.
I've stated that I'll never own a 360 till this problem is fixed. I never bash 360 games because I can't have the 1st hand experience of playing them (Unless my friends tell me honestly that it's crap, which has happened a few times but that's their opinion, was Bioshock mainly) but as for the console, I've now had 3 frie...
There's a difference to a multiplat game running at a lower resolution on the secondary platform but the 360 can't be a true HD console when one of the biggest exclusives to hit the 360 (Halo 3) wasn't even in true HD.
Attack the PS3 all you want but it's always been THE HD console and the 360 tagged along with HDMI when the PS3 proved it was the better Hd option. MS prefer to look at what their competitors do well and jump on the bandwagon when things get profitable, they've t...
I don't think MS would ever have anything recalled, they'd rather leave it out there and run the risk because there's lots of money up for grabs.
The first time I heard about widespread RROD I thought MS would do the sensible thing and recall it before the problem got worse or more people bought into the 360. I was wrong and MS ended up paying the price.
Unlike those saying 'look they gave us an extended warranty, everything is fine' I never thought the same way,...
By bundle do you mean with a PS3 or just the LE version?
Play.com have never delivered any of my preorders to me on the day of release, usually the Monday after. Even on preorders I've had down for months in advance. It's why I moved to Shopto.
I use Play.com for electronics more than games now, less urgent things. But anyway, they won't mess you about with your money, just don't expect it to arrive in 5 days on MGS4 release day.
MGS4 is a system seller, no doubt. Amazon is arguably the biggest online retailer so this is quite something when you think about it.
Those saying it may only be a few thousand, I think if Amazon have sold this many almost everywhere else will sell similar. Those that couldn't buy off Amazon will look elsewhere, spreading the word and demand.
Even if only 2000 people had bought the bundle, that's 2000 more people spreading the word to the people around them, a s...
I've never had any problems and have used them and Amazon for years.
But now Shopto.net has become my favourite. Unfortunately can't get the bundle from there but all games I've ordered have arrived a day early, except GTA4 since R* had special restrictions on it. It's cheaper than Play and Amazon.
If you didn't need the bundle I'd recommend Shopto for all your games.
I went with a WD250GB and got it for £40 ($80) about a month ago. Well worth it, so easy to install. I upgraded ready for GTA4 and MGS4 (Both have installs and I was running out of space).
It doesn't really matter what size, just make it a Western Digital Harddisk Drive! (Yep, I know that rhymes)
"Like R2, the PS#3 is already maxed out also. Going by your logic."
No what he's saying is because the 360 has slower shared RAM it's going to max out soon. Like an old PC that needs more RAM. Unlike the PS3 that has faster RAM in two places so to speak.
What I've always wonder is why don't Sony and Microsoft build consoles where the RAM can be upgraded? With limitations obviously because of heat issues.
