Considering that SSAO has been officially in the SDK for PS3 for quite some time now, the lack of it is inexcusable.

Too bad the consoles themselves don't put out a 240Hz signal.
All these TVs do is create a false "smoothness" whereby the TV flashes the frames an extra couple of times before the next actual source frame refresh.
Many people cannot tolerate the smoothness, as it is unnatural and counteracting of the natural motion blur that the eye sees. In fact, I've seen people get nauseated, myself included.
