You could play PS2 online games with a PS3, no Gaikai needed for that. I tried it years ago with a Ratchet & Clank game and I think I tried some Killzone 1 online also on my old 60gb.
Not sure if you were saying that wasn't already possible or not (to play against players on the old console while being on the new console).
To be clear, you lose access to the free games, not any games you bought or bought at a discount. Any free DLC, themes, avatars, etc. you can still use, and if you renew your PS+ after a gap in time, you can still reaccess those older free games through your download history. Meaning they're not completely gone once the subscription runs out.

Show me Sony marketing calling the current model a slim or a 'PSThree'. Stating simple facts doesn't equal dumb. Calling a console that's larger than most others a slim does.

It's over 5x larger than (the slims) PSOne (just over 1000 cm^3) and PSTwo (under 1000 cm^3). It's actually larger than the original PS2 overall (over 5700 cm^3 vs. 4100 for the original PS2).

People need to stfu about 'Super Slim'. It's getting a bit annoying. If you knew anything at all about what you were talking about, you'd know there currently is no Slim; there is no 'PSThree'.
There was a fat-@ss gigantor full on Spiderman caps PLAYSTATION 3 and a rebranded regular/normal/standard PlayStation 3.
The current model PS3 is about the same size as the original PS2. That is not a slim and Sony specifically did not market it...
My fatty 60GB YLODed 4, if not 5x before I got a regular one.
Currently have a 160GB 2500 series I think, but will buy a slim. Hoping for wireless N, less heat and a size more similar to the PS2 slim.

..and Bad Company has a 10002 kills trophy and you get less kills per time as far as I can remember. Not 100% sure if it does take longer, but either way time is time, not hard.

May not be what you're talking about, but.. You're most likely filling up your hard drive with Game Data. Like MGS install 5GB, GT5 install another 5GB, etc.
Making up numbers a little bit there, but delete Game Data that you don't play anymore. You can still keep your Save Data.
Another 'hidden' change / possible improvement:
PMs now read out in full instead of just the title when you go into Received Messages.
Funny (barely), but no, I never played Hannah Montana... But I would like to get rid of Free Realms, Ragdoll Kung Fu, MLB10, and similar games that I played for 2 seconds and now are just eyesores on my trophy list.
@pixel, agreed on removing the demos in download history. Had the same annoyance recently trying to find old PS+ games I downloaded around a year ago like Goldenaxe, Streets of Rage 2, etc.
Give us the ability to delete and/or hide trophies.
That way we can get rid of BS, like Free Realms, which was supposed to be a demo.. along with other 0% or low percentage games we didn't like and don't want on our lists.
We can then play games to just try them out or just have a little fun without worrying about them being on your trophy list.
Trophies have made gaming more of a chore for me now. I either then 'have to' try ...
