Well as someone who has had his Xbox 360 since launch, I think the exclusives are whats needed to push a console at first. I bought a Xbox 360 simply because I saw Gears Of War on it and I thought that was the first true next generation gaming experience.
I bought a PS3 because of Metal Gear Solid 4, I bought a Wii because of Mario Galaxy and Zelda.
So exclusives matter to an extent, but I can understand companies not wanting to waste a lot of time and mone...
The types of people who play Halo are vastly different from those that play Call Of Duty. I don't think Halo has a chance to take away anything from Call Of Duty, Halo will sell like crazy, probably between 8-11 million, but COD will still put up 20+.
As for Medal Of Honor, I actually have high hopes for the game, mostly because Dice isn't involved. Danger Close needs to make the online play like the brilliant offline played. Prone, the ability to adjust rate of fire ...
Everyone seems to have jumped on the flag issue, which isn't even raised in this article. The attire is the thing in the nutshell. I have no issues with the attire or the flag. The game takes place during the American Revolution, you cant have that without the American flag.
There were plenty of other flags and places from other countries in the other games, so I'm glad to be playing an Assassins Creed game in a different era and with a different character.
...
I would expect a lot of Vita announcements, not saying there wont be anything PS3 related, but I'd expect all kinds of information on COD for the Vita and a ton of other games. Sony needs to keep pumping out Vita games and apps while they are on this hot streak.
I wouldn't expect God Of War 4 or anything until E3, I'm sure they want something that big to be a surprise.
I am actually excited for this one, I haven't played Revelations yet, because I thought they drug out Ezio's story a bit too long. This new one looks interesting though, love the change of scenery.
Didn't Pachter just release something saying the Wii U wouldn't save Nintendo? As for people on Wordpress, you have to get a start somewhere, those people could very well be the "experts" of tomorrow.
I believe we've had a very high level of negativity towards gaming as a whole this past year, that includes the experts on the so called "real sites".
I actually find better reviews and stories on the sites you are trying to crap ...
@cgoodno
How would it have been done on PS3? Headset games simply don't work well. Endwar is a perfect example of that.
I know anyone can make a video and show something doesn't work right, but I also know what I tried and how well it worked. You didn't have to yell, just quietly do the commands.
I doubt Microsoft had a deal with EA, but probably had an arrangement with Bioware, since those two go back quite away and have a great relations...
Well said, I've played games like Endwar with a headset and so called "Voice commands" and they didn't work. I was greatly surprised that they work 100% of the time in the ME3 demo.
People seem to complain about Kinect and hate on it, yet when it gets a feature like this, people complain and wish it were in every version.....
To be fair, the franchise had a pretty big following because of the books. People see an opportunity to make some money off of it, much in the same way as Star Wars or Lord Of The Rings.
Doesn't mean it's being run into the ground, just means it's gained in popularity.
Bundled copies are never counted in official numbers.
Perfect Dark Zero and PGR have both gone Platinum and then some. L.O. actually did well at first and I think ended up close to a million units sold.
Not everything is about sales, you need to build up the fanbase. There are tons of games that had lackluster first games or poor sales and they ended up coming on really strong for the sequel.
The Cell was both a blessing and a curse, it sort of reminded me of the Sega Saturn, which was actually pretty powerful back in the day, but it was so hard to program for, it got left in the dust.
The PS3 exclusives look great, but 3rd party developers aren't taking advantage of it for the most part. Most games are ported from the Xbox 360 dev kits.
It was the exact opposite last generation, the original Xbox was so powerful, but only the exclusives show...
I think if Microsoft wants to increase sales in Japan, the white console is a start at it. They should also create a first party "Zoom" like the Nyko one and package it with the Kinect bundles.
Lastly, I'd try to secure some sort of Monster Hunter game for use with Kinect and I think it might catch on. Gotta give Microsoft credit for not giving up over there.
I've been saying all along that it'll be $299, and Nintendo will still make money off the console. Nintendo always manages to make money, even the Gamecube made money.
People are overestimating the cost of making the controller, but we don't have any concrete information on it and it's not like it's an Ipad or something.
Also, if the Wii U is more powerful then the PS3/360 it will be a huge advantage for Nintendo. Next generation is goin...
@Dlacy13g
I don't think there ever was a Wii Sports 2 though, I highly doubt they would do something elaborate for a game like that.
In fact, I cant remember anything elaborate for any game aside from Halo and Gears Of War, so it's a little weird to be seeing some press for some new games.
I just think we are in for some surprises, seeing as how we already know about Halo 4 and Fable The Journey, I think it might be PGR5, Alan Wake 2, Killer...
Forza, Gears, Dance Central 2 and Kinect Sports 2 all came out LAST YEAR. This magazine is obviously lost in translation. We already know about Halo 4. Nice troll attempt though.
We already know about Halo 4 and Fable The Journey. Why would Lionhead have a countdown timer to something they've already announced and shown? I bet it could be the Fable MMO or Fable 4 straight up.
Also, we've heard about a "Killer sequel", which leads me to believe it's a Killer Instinct game. Kinect Adventures isn't a "franchise", it's a packaged game or tech demo for Kinect.
Well Halo is already coming this year, Gears and Forza just came out 5 months ago. We have Fable The Journey coming out later this year, but Lionhead does have a countdown going on, so it could very well be a true Fable 4.
We've also heard about a "Killer sequel" from OXM, which quite possibly could be Killer Instinct. There is also supposedly a Spectacular reboot, which could be almost anything from Perfect Dark to Banjo to Conker. I'm definitely interested...
@StrongMan
I have no way to track official numbers, but Kinect has it's heavy hitters like Kinect Sports and Dance Central, and I believe those titles have sold really well.
Microsoft doesn't consider PC to be a competing platform. In fact, I believe they will make the next Xbox totally compatible with Windows.
Alan Wake, Halo, Gears, Fable are all exclusive. You can call it console exclusive if you wish, but it's not a competing platform.
