Microsoft wont leave the optical drive out of the next Xbox. I think they will work on the same format as the PS4 will, which is Blu Ray. I don't see them going in a totally different direction, most third party companies probably wouldn't want to put their games out on three different formats.
To those saying Microsoft wont use Sony tech on their console, Microsoft has PC's stock with Blu Ray drives, Microsoft uses CD tech and DVD tech which Sony owns patents too...
Obviously it'll have a disk tray, there is still 30+ million people who own Xbox 360's who don't even use internet access for the console.
A lot of people have download cap limits, like myself.
I think all the companies learned from the PSP GO, offer Digital Download as an option, but don't force it on people.
You forgot the fact where not everyone has speeds capable of downloading games. Also, a lot of people like myself have a download cap per month.
I'm still on DSL where I live, its the only option, definitely not fast enough to start downloading games and everything else.
Its one thing to talk about cell phones and no physical media, those are easy to get into on the run, since its always connected to a internet connection, a console is different.
As I said though, what of the new casual gamers who are new to Microsoft and the Xbox and Kinect? A lot of those types of people lack internet savvy or connections.
also, I'll throw out there that people in general lack the type of internet speeds to do digital only at this time.
I only get 250 gigs a month on my plan, which might sound like a lot, but even watching a show on Netflix counts against download caps.
I couldn't imagine my...
It's something we luckily wont have to worry about, there are so many idiotic rumors going on out their about the next Xbox.
Microsoft didn't capture the core and casual markets only to lose both. Casual gamers don't usually do the internet or download thing. Which is why the 4 gig Xbox 360/Kinect bundle does so well.
There are almost 70 million Xbox 360's in the world and only around 40 million of those have Xbox Live, why would Microsoft l...
Great core platform game from Nintendo. The Wii actually has a ton of great games like this. Although I think part 2 is actually better, this one was the one that kick started my love for the Wii. Well this and Zelda...
I love it when people speculate on things like this. There is no way they don't use a disk drive next generation. Microsoft has always looked at the Xbox as more then a gaming console, so they'd want it to be able to play Blu Ray/DVD and probably Xbox 360 games.
No way would they risk losing half of their consumers on a digital download console. I call BS.
I think I'm going to go and pre-order this. I should have done it yesterday when I was picking up Mass Effect 3. I was already pre-ordering a few games at that time. I got drawn in by the flashy metal collectors tin for Assassins Creed 3 and I also pre-ordered the Collectors Edition of The Witcher 2.
Some solid games are coming out.
Actually Microsoft opened 4 new studios last year alone to work on core titles, that doesn't mean they wont have Kinect integration. They also bought Twisted Pixel, which has done some great things on XBLA and Gunstringer was pretty fun.
Lionhead was actually co-founded by Peter and the co-founder is still there and running things, he just wasn't outspoken like Peter was.
Rare is fine, I don't buy into the whole New Rare or old Rare BS. Anytime yo...
I actually agree. I think Peter wanted strictly Kinect and Microsoft probably wanted a full Fable 4 release, maybe with some Kinect functionality but probably not a straight up all Kinect Fable game.
Even though they get trashed here, the Fable games are big sellers for Microsoft.
I have a feeling he will be making Kinect games in the future, since he has already stated he finds traditional controllers boring. He probably just wanted a bit more freedom to l...
I think he was a little too crazy about Kinect. Something tells me he will still be working on Kinect titles in the future with his new company 22 Cans.
You cant look at a minigame that is coming to the XBLA and say somethings lost its way. Pubgames was similar to this in the aspect that the money you made in that game on XBLA carried over to Fable 2. This is kind of the same thing, but a beat'em up like Castle Crashers that will carry things over to Journey.
I love the Fable franchise and I'm glad he dreamed big, maybe he couldn't deliver on everything, but at least he tried. Which is more then I can say for a lo...
People like to hate on the guy, but he is a true icon in the industry. I also see a lot of people claiming it was Microsoft that pushed Kinect on Peter, when in actuality Peter doesn't like standard controllers anymore. If anything, I'd guess Microsoft wanted more traditional Fable game but with some Kinect integration and Peter wants all Kinect all the time.
I respect the heck out of the guy and even though he doesn't get a lot of respect in a place like this, th...
I just felt the way C-3PO acted, which was mostly in a frightened way and was pretty much afraid to get his feet wet, was a negative portrayal for homosexuals.
I also just flat out felt like he was annoying, 10x more so then Jar Jar.
That is just my opinion, if you don't feel the same way that is fine.
Just my opinion folks.
I'll take high flying Jedi and those Lightsaber battles over the old man Kenobi and robotic Va...
If it weren't for The Phantom Menace, I wouldn't like Star Wars at all. I can respect people that might not like it, because we all have our own opinions, but that was the movie that got me into Star Wars.
Growing up I thought Empire Strikes Back was okay, I really hated A New Hope, best sleeping pill ever and I never understood how Ewokes could defeat the empire when Jedi couldn't even accomplish that task.
I think Qui-Gon Jinn is one of the best...
I don't recall Halo ever having a public beta, they had closed betas in the past.
Have you ever used Kinect? It can pick up your eyebrows moving and the opening and closing of your mouth. It will be fine, people that haven't used one think it doesn't have accurate readings, which isn't true at all.
This is the year in which we should see some really quality Kinect titles. Mostly we've seen some party games and dance games, some decent titles like the Kinect Sports, Gunstringer, Fruit Ninja, Child Of Eden ect...
I'm really looking forward to some of the games like this and Fable The Journey, we haven't seen a ton of story driven Kienct titles, or core sports titles, so its nice to see one that will work perfectly with Kienct.
@Tommy334
Everyone I listed sells over a million, Forza does multi millions, as does Fable. Alan Wake has sold over a million as well. Even games like Crackdown do over a million.
Not sure where you get your info.
You do realize that Microsoft uses Sony's products and Sony uses Microsoft's products all the time right? The Vita uses Skype, the Xbox 360 uses DVD, which Sony owns patents too.
Microsoft also puts out PC's stock with Blu Ray drive. Blu Ray is definitely cheaper then cards and download only.
People need to keep in mind that R&D started for the next Xbox when the Xbox 360 launched. I doubt Microsoft started designing a digital only console in ...
