I thought the exact same thing as soon as the negative stuff started. But the Bungie forums have had "crying" threads accusing them of betraying their faithful XBox fans for some time now. I think this is their way of trying to hurt Bungie.
For anyone on the fence, try and find someone who has it and play for yourself if you are not sure. Or wait and buy copy for cheap from some of these guys who apparently hate it.

Maybe they could use the idle cycles on the download handler chip to handle themes so that the OS doesn't have the overhead added to it?

I actually prefer using the PSN app on my Galaxy Tab 4 or iPad. I hate having to exit the game to check messages and it's much easier to type on the tablet screen
lol... I know, right? Anyway, I thought themes were cool at first on the PS3, but I got tired of them and switched back to just a custom picture for the background. That was good enough for me, but it IS good to have as many options as possible.
I am really more in need of folders like on PS3 where I can structure my games and such.
It's $39 here in the US and I picked it up for the PS4 just to have something on the lighter side to play. It's pretty fun, and will hold me over until Destiny gets here next week. I could honestly recommend this to anyone of any age to play.
BTW, for someone who posted above, I think the XB1 and PS4 were the only versions that got split screen options.

Not bad, but yeah, the Black Friday deal last year was the best. I grabbed two years then (should have done 3 years while it was only $29)
No telling if they will do that this year though. I think last year may have just been Sony trying to get people onboard with the paid service while transferring over to PS4. I'll add more years on Black Friday this year if they offer it again.

Nope, I preordered Destiny on Amazon last October and I still haven't been actually charged for it (it just shows as a pre-order in my orders list).

They both look good. It does seem a bit more refined on the PS4 but then they have given it more time in the Alpha and all. I'm currently switching between the PS3 and PS4 depending upon which set of friends I play with, and the PS3 was hard to look at initially, but after a few minutes playing with friends, you forget all about those differences.
Bottom line is everyone is having fun in Destiny now regardless of which platform. That's all that matters.
lol.. I played the PS4 on the Alpha, but wanted to bring in a couple of my PS3 friends on the Beta. That's what it felt like when I first started it up. I felt like it was really low res and in areas felt like detail was washed out a bit. There was a clear cut difference in the graphics.

That's the problem. I didn't get an email either, and I cannot get signed into Bungie.net either to check and see if my code is there. I've been trying for a couple of hours.
I got into the Alpha in probably about half an hour or maybe slightly more. It downloaded really fast. Hope for more of the same for the Beta, though I realize that we will have PS3 and PS4 downloading this time around.
WooT! Welcome aboard... And hope you have fun in Destiny. I did the Alpha on PS4 with two friends, but I'm going to do the Beta on PS3 with two other friends (that I'm trying to coax into the PS4) They both want one, but need something to justify it now.
That's the thing I hated was loosing my already created characters... I was really liking my Titan, and my Warlock.
But I guess you have to loose them because you will be starting over on levels again, and much of the customizations were only available after leveling up.
I think people are not even taking into account that there are already named two expansion packs for it. I think Bungie will do alright by it.
