this is about more than just credit card details - the hackers, and potentially millions of other people all around the world if they sell/release the data obtained from the PSN - have peoples full names, date of birth, gender, home address, email address, etc.
that is a HUGE breach of privacy, and sony need to pay.
ive played over 100 matches and im yet to experience any significant lag. region filters plus some great matchmaking/host choosing code has done its job.
also, Gears 2 has been using dedicated servers in the background randomly for matches for months. they were testing to see how it would work so they could implement it for gears 3. and it worked well.
it was on the main news programs tonight also here in Australia.
as bad as this whole thing is, i have to have a giggle at it purely because of how all the PS3 fanboys on here paraded around after the Hotz lawsuit settlement saying that hackers shouldnt/wont mess with sony ever again.

chances are whoever hacked the network simply copied ALL of the details to a few spreadsheets. why the hell WOULDNT they do that? they didnt hack it for a bit of fun, they wanted something.
and also, despite there being 70 000 000 PSN accounts, id estimate only about 20 to 25 million of those are actually real accounts...
