As a gamer first and foremost, I play games! I care about the game play first, and graphics is way further down the list. There are plenty of great games on PSN/Xbox Live Arcade that I enjoy that is 1080p/720p that visually don't stack up to any of these large budget sub-HD games that I enjoy. Well, what is interesting is that if the console market didn't exist, then Epic would be making games for the PC and not whine about it. I'm primarily a console gamer, but let's be frank here. I think by the time the next Gears of War is coming after the third installment it might go multi-platform. I'm almost certain MS is cooking something else as it might not be worth it to them to keep Gears of War exclusive. They could probably make 2-3 new IPs for the same cost.

I love NG to death! Hands down my favorite game this past two generations, but $50 is too hard to swallow for a 8-9 month old game that is a remake of another game with minimal enhancements.

I beg to differ. Sony is doing well now despite all the setbacks, but considering they trumpet everything in the last 2 generations, with the developer support, the advantageous Japanese market and their brand name we expected Sony to obliterate everyone.

Hard to believe one of the most iconic games in recent time is from advertising, luck and current condition of the market alone. The eco-system has to largely be there and I think MS had the online play for console eco-system ready. Halo probably would not be as successful on the PS2.
With that said, I don't think I have ever heard of a company that says our next IP will be SMALLER than the previous one especially when it is multi-platform with twice the user base!

With a larger install base it is even harder to get a high attach rate due to the watering down of the group of people you are trying to sell to.
Remember that attach rate is the average number of units sold per console. In this case it is quite remarkable that Wii almost matches Sony with almost twice the user base!

I haven't played FF XIII or any of the other FF games, but I got the impression that FF XIII was dumbed down to appeal more to casual gamers and less the hardcore. Maybe that is why Bioware is making that comment.
To me an RPG is where you have more control over your characters appearance, characteristics and weapons. Where the game is more story driven and there are many choices. Leveling is generally part of it, but not a requirement.

Yeah, that's what I was going to say. The girls are all laughing and are scared. Especially the one girl in white top with some kind of flowers. Her expressions seems really genuine, not fake like how many of those types of commercials tend to be.
