I think the definition of who won must be limited to hardware released in a short time frame of each other i.e. the Xbox 360, Wii and PS3 was released within a year of each other. They are considered in the same cycle and hardware is irrelevant as that is more akin to a business decision/model.

PS2 was released way back in early 2000.... by the time it hit 2005 the PS2 already sold 100 million. Contrast that with Xbox 360 and PS3 and they didn't even achieve that combined...

Can't your parents just buy their own PS3? Usually parents are wealthier than their children by the fact that they have more time to earn/save....

So the child was unable to distinguish reality from what was happening on the screen until you explained it to him. Although, the parent explained to the child what had happened, I'm not sure it is appropriate game considering the inability to distinguish reality from fiction. This is of course entirely dependent on the child's maturity level and not based on some set age.

I grew up watching a lot of violent movies, but I always knew fact from fiction and this is impo...

@soda
Actually, value could be both subjective and a factual depending on how you defined factual.

For instance, to a person that is starving being given a PS3 for a $10 is of little value, but a piece of bread for $10 might just be much more valuable. That is relative and subjective.

Facts can be an allegation such as "A provide superior value over B", although it is not a true fact. Even in some cases, commonly held belief is considered a ...

Yeah! In his eyes the PS3 already won, so go get a PS3!!!

Doesn't matter who wins though, because reality is Nintendo is the winner here. MS/Sony is second place at best and it looks like it will end in a tie for second place.

I bought the Limited Edition of Bioshock 2 and promptly traded the game in. Although the setting was still Rapture, it lack the depth, twist and turns of the first one.

It's fine that the shock value of seeing Rapture is no longer there, but the game story line, which is what made the first one excellent, was as generic and boring as can be. The whole gameplay did almost nothing new except add pseudo dual wielding...

I was thoroughly disappointed, hoping ...

Just 5 years ago, every body would be singing a different tune. Sony was the arrogant company and MS was new on the block. This author might be right now, but his reasoning is so wrong on so many levels.

Basically, he is saying that since his tiny little site isn't getting attention, MS is arrogant. Well, I'm sorry, but when business is brisk and a lot of people want to talk to you, you select the most promising ones. There is only so much resources and time... That ...

Unfortunately, Gears of War 2 didn't come to the PC so I doubt the third one would...

I own the first Gears of War for PC though.

I didn't say MW2 didn't make money (or intended to indicate), I said Activision as a company didn't make money for the fiscal year that passed.

I haven't had a problem with my multiple Xbox 360s, PS3 or even the Wii albet the Wii almost never get used.

I think the YLOD and RROD is overrated these days. It might have been a problem as evident by all the bad 360s and the occasional few PS3s in the past, but now a days the true danger is really (and was last generation) is the disc read error from normal wear and tear. It affects any disc based console so I install all my games if possible!!!

I'm cautiously optimistic, but personally haven't seen anything that I know is from Hayashi to prove he will outdo anything Itagaki has done. If anything, everything has pointed towards the game will be at best average.

As a fan of Ninja Gaiden series and one that considers NG2 to be my favorite game this genration, I hope I'm soooo wrong!!!

Four million copies to break even is a pretty low reward and high risk investment. Despite this people want cheaper games? No freaking wonder everyone is loosing money in this industry. Just look at Activision with the launch of MW2, last years probably biggest game still lost money annually.

Development cost is through the roof!

The PS3 definitely has more bang for your buck, but some things aren't always measured in cost.

For instance, Apple products cost an arm and a leg, but people still buys them in droves. Not all experiences are equal. For some the 360 offers the game or features they want and willing to pay more over time, but less up front. Just 3-4 years ago the value of the PS3 wasn't as appealing as it is now, and as we move forward the PS3 will offer a much better price to feature...

"I have been paying close attention to the red ball demos and no just the lack of lag, but how people react while and after play with the tech. You guys are missing the point. It is not that the red ball is great or sucks, it is that the tech works and works well with the game. Everyone who has played with the tech is ready to jump in, they are impressed. But my optimism iwas not formed by the reation or approval of others, I simply love the whole concept and beleive that if done right, ...

I so agree with Alpha. You don't take out facts that works against you. If you want to measure a winner, you pick a yardstick and apply it to everyone. Not selectively removing facts to suit your needs. That is called B-I-A-S-E-D!!!

With that said, does the console war even matter anymore? I mean it only mattered when the PS2 was dominating and the GameCube and original Xbox had so few users it's software line up was in jeopardy from third party.

Now ...

Another thing to add is, great developers optimize what you see on screen or experiences, by removing stuff you don't notice most of the time. They also come up with smart algorithms to process certain tasks faster.

All of this is more an issue of resources and what your finances are willing to pay. The more you put in, the more you get out until it hits a ceiling where it isn't worth putting in more effort.

Huh... Who said anything about PS3?

I was making a generalized comment, but since you asked the "Other OS" feature was removed from older PS3 after several assurances that it wouldn't by high ranking executives.

I don't consider BC a feature removal as it didn't affect older units, only newer units after the marketing was pulled. Can't say the same about "Other OS".

Either way, it is a mute point as it isn&...
