If the Xbox already has a high rate of defect, i.e. let say a 1 million a year. How many do you expect people to get on the day NXE was released? If the evenly failed each day, that would be 2800 Xbox's a day. SO any idiot can see that that statistically consoles will fail during the update?
It doesn't mean that the update caused the RROD (or that the update didn't cause the RROD), but it could be just a coincidence. People put blame on things without even thinking....
Let's be fair here. There weren't too many quality games on the PS3 when MGS4 came out (akin to the GeoW 1 came out on 360). It is arguable the year biggest game on PS3 so it is expected to sell a lot. Many people bought a PS3 just to play this game. MGS series has a long history and a lot of followers. My brother bought the PS3 just for MGS4.
Sales has now fizzled though....
I can't see how this is good for the consumer and focus shouldn't be on what MS did or Sony did. I think they all are croocked and that is the ugly side of business.
If this is true, then I think fans of either console should oppose it. Next thing you know, everybody starts making stuff incompatible or unavailable on each console. This is just one more step in making it worse for consumers!
I don't know why people complain so much about Live's cost and reliability about something so minor. Let's do a comparison here:
- You pay $30+/month for premium cable, does your service every go down?
- You Pay $30+/month for high speed internet, does the service ever get interrupted? Does it have hiccups?
- You pay $5/month for Live and it goes down. MS informs you of the problem, that some didn't even experience. All hell breaks loose....
Live ha...
I play my 360 almost daily, at least 3-4 times if not more a week on lenght and for over a year now, I have not had a single problem. Works like a charm. My cousin has had his (the older console design prior to Falcon) and his only problem is disc read errors, probably cause he and his friends play it daily at lenght and he leaves it on with a disc in it running not playing for hours on time.....
There is no doubt there is a problem with 360, but the people iwht a problem will ...
I don't know about Sony, but I must admit MS is pretty darn good about informing their "paying" customers of issues with Live. You can go to Xbox.com and check the status of Live! and they announce major issues.
I appreciate it... can't speak for Sony though, as I rarely use it so I rarely have issues, duh!
Not really, this is basically in the middle of the cycle for MS, and 2011 would be around 5 years. MS will probably try to beat the competition again by releasing their next console early, especially considering their 360 prices are reaching mainstream. How much more can they drop the price.
Most likely a new Wii will co-incide with the next Xbox around 2011-12 (is my guess).
I'm all for a shorter cycle, with backwards compatibility support!
I for one think that there is no excuse in knowingly releasing a faulty product and just makes bad business sense. This brings up the second question, would it make sense for a company to release a console they know will have to be replaced at a huge cost? For any company, profit and money speaks.... If there is doubt trace it back to the money.
So did MS knowling release a faulty console, maybe, but it doesn't make business or financial sense. I believe there is a lot of truth...
This article has little to do with the PS3 other than similar technology, but notice how this again re-inforces that the Cell architecture was intended for number crunching and not a multipurpose processor for gaming related tasks.
I don't care how powerful the darn thing is, if it isn't doing what I bought the device for so give me the games that going to bring the PS3 above and beyond 360 level graphics. I'm not talking about the small barely noticeable differences in graphic...
Famitsu gave it 38/40, granted it is in the homeland of JRPG.... We will see.
Where these actors in the original Starcraft or only in the new Starcraft 2 (i.e. the released videos, which I haven't seen much of)?
I would normally say that artists should not get a royalty when a used copy is sold. However, as it is right now, the used game market is rather big. Who knows, it might become as big or bigger than the new game sales then that becomes a huge problem. I don't see the music or the book industry facing this issue. Another issue is games have declined in price relative to inflation with rising development cost....
The biggest issue though is why buy used, when I almost always find...
I agree with the speed on downloads. I'm not sure how big firmware 2.52 was, but it freaken took me 40 minutes to download. I was like WTF?
I know it is free, but jeeez....
It is hard to go back to charging money when you made it free in the first place. Best bet is to make it a two tiered membership, paid members get premium content, new features first (since they are funding it) and faster downloads.
Ban their asse$!!! They are just leechers anyhow making games more expensive for all of us (or lessening the profits for the publisher/developer, whichever)....
I didn't finish the game yet and didn't know Dizzy just dissappeared and never showed up. Maybe in the third one.....
Props to you for reading the article and admittance.
I didn't want to sound too harsh, but frequently people just make comments without making at least an effort to find out what is going on. So we get all this noise that further misleads people. Vicious cycle.
Happy gaming!
"Then there’s cool stuff like Avatars (think Nintendo’s Miis, but with fewer customization options and slightly more teen-like"
Is that right, I thought the 360 avatars would be more customizable. They sure look like they have a lot more detail.
Apart from that, he just gave us a run-down of the NXE and supprted the title with a question.... I don't think people buy a gaming console to watch movies unless you are buying a PS3. However, it is the overal...
I must agree with you, not sure what is up with all the disagrees. Perhaps it is all the Sony fanboys patting each others back.
The Xbox 360 has always done on par or below PS3 in Europe. In Japan it was previously dead, came back a little only to get beaten down really hard. That is how the worldwide sales figure gives Sony the edge.
The title suggest that PS3 is currently outselling Xbox in Europe, which the article contradicts. If anything it is quite impressi...
I don't know about the game, since I snoozed off on the introduction. It took like 20-30 minutes just to listen to the memmmememe sounds and button pushing to get through a story that could have been told in 2 minutes via animation. Once you start the game (mind you I turned it off after 2 minutes into the actual gameplay) you still get more of this memememme sounds and story. I want to start the game damn!t, just tell the story as you go along, but don't force me to wait in anticipation... a...
First off, article from psxextreme.com. Any idiot can see that these guys are biased, and even if they aren't (unlikely based on the way the article is written) it is inappropriate.
However, consumers should be angry with the RROD and especially when it is repeated. On the flip side, there are plenty of 360's that run without problems and I suspect the people that repeatedly have problems are the ones having old consoles prior to Falcon and constantly get replaced by MS with re...
