Did these people even try the demo? I mean I enjoyed Ninja Blade and consider buying it once it goes low enough in price, but it doesn't come close to NG (I or II).
The game mechanic in NG is smooth as butter, the one in NB is choppy and a lot of the game appears to rely on quick time events.
HHG has given us nothing but flame bait articles.
This is an obvious case of a company trying to get money. We need a reform on the patent system. It is ridiculous when companies like amazon.com can get a patent on 1-click ordering.
Software patent shouldn't be on the result, but rather on the implementation. If the idea holder wants to patent it, let him come up with the multitude of ways to achieve this and document it.
I bought into the hype train and bought KZ2.
Bottom line is that the sales don't match the hype and that is where the failure is. Nobody said that 1 million sales isn't good, just contrast this with MGS4 and suddenly KZ2 sales are nothing to boast about. KZ2 was hailed as the Halo killer, the system seller and the destroyer of the 360... You get the picture.
What happened to Sony's large marketing budget for this game?
Let's just wait for the real number...
I think the number of people that pirate the game is large, but the number of people pirating and playing it online is small. Doesn't MS periodically detect and ban pirates? I think they also ban the machine as well so you don't have too many tries....
Unless you got people that have cancelled their subscription and new ones added. Also the definition if unique is not clearly defined. Would you consider two gamers on one gamertag/psn id (can you on psn?) two unique gamers? People that changed their gamertag?
There are a host of numbers of why you could have more unique gamers than current members.
WOW, that is a huge gap with almost 3:1 in favor of the Xbox and even more suprising considering Live is a paid service.
I always assumed that Live would have more due to the headstart, but that this would be negated by the fact that PSN is free and that people would always choose free. It could be just for one game since PS gamers aren't as keen on FPS games. CoD4 is always on the top 3 list of games played on Live though. What about on PSN?
@mindboggle:
I tried the demo today in the US Xbox Live, but the controls weren't as good as I hoped. Game is decent though and probably worth a buy once it hits below $30.
No, it is just you being dumb for arriving at such a conclusion based on you premises.
There is no doubt those that bought the game thinking it was something else (maybe FPS) and was surprised. However, I wouldn't call it duped, but rather customers ignorance.
If there was no picture on the back of the box showing gameplay then maybe, but clearly there are 3 pictures of gameplay on the box. If you drop $60+tax on a game without even looking on the back or considering what kind of game you are getting, then it probably doesn't matter to the person if he didn't get ...
We should have an organization against groups like NIMF. I'm suprised we don't have one yet, or do we?
ohhhh.... me want!
Although 3 releases though! That is gonna cost $$$ :(
Can you at least backup your claim?
I didn't know the original Xbox sold 2 million in 3-years. That makes the 360 a total failure in Japan with a much better line-up for Japanese tastes and sexier design. I guess MS is doing damage control in Japan after the lackluster sales of the original box. I probably wouldn't be putting my trust in the Xbox 360 either after the original one did so poorly.
Isn't that an obvious statement from a CEO that can only sell products to owners of consoles?
Anyhow, a game price cut will probably not happen anytime soon. If anything another price hike next generation to $70/game is more likely. On another positive note, most games drop in price within 1-3 months. That's faster rate of dropping price than anything I seen for a long time.... The only real game I paid full price for was Gears of War 2 and MGS4 (as part of the PS3 MGS4 LE bundl...
This is most likely old stock. Why would they make new stock of this now 9 months later?
I paid a massive $670 for this console when it was released.... sigh. Of course I would love to save $270 months later, but looking back if I knew it would sell out (not that it did), I would pa that for it.
edit: @trebius below:
The RE5 360 LE is at least a bargain while the MGS4 LE PS3 was overpriced.
edit agian: forgot to mention but this LE bundle also inc...
Unfortunately, all these companies are out to make money. Do you think they make Xbox or Playstations out of the goodness of their heart?
They aren't shrinking their hard drive size. They are increasing it by introducing new hard drive models. It also sounds like they are getting rid of the Elite, introducing the 120GB hard drive on the pro and increasing hd size on the limited edition elites....
Whoever that takes review scores as facts are missing out a lot of damn good games! Furthermore, even great games get a few poor reviews.
I don't know much about how internal hardware reports errors, but do you think MS could start changing the hardware to report a three light RROD as a one or two light instead?
I guess somebody would probably eventually figure it out though....
There is one undeniable fact with Plasma that cannot match LCD, it is resolution. Plasma doesn't have the full horizontal resolution of 1080p i.e. 1920. In fact, it only has half the resolution with an odd shaped pixel i.e. rectangular. The horizontal resolution of Plasma is 1024 I believe. That is a significant reduction and suddenly 1080p on Plasma is actually only 3 times as detailed as regular SD, 480p.
Most wouldn't notice this because color is more visible to the viewer. Pl...
