There is a long list of things gone bad, but then there is a long list of things gone right (albeit shorter). I still prefer a company that tries and then suceeds at a few things as opposed to a company that doesn't at all.
Seeing how MS is so full of cash they are giving a dividend, what else are they going to do with the money, but try new business models?
If you read about MS, you will find out that IE didn't come about just to get into the latest hot thing, b...
It is Sony's job to design, manufacture and sell a product people want to buy. It is not the other way around.
I also don't believe in supporting a company, but more the product and in turn the company. Meaning if the company produces a great product it deserves to be support through me buying the product and NOT because I'm in some way blindly in love with the company due to the product. The latter is a fanboy and the former is a wise consumer!
edit: @rocklex below ...
Wii can get a price cut, different colors and has stellar first party games too. If anything Wii has the biggest wiggle room when it comes to price cut considering it never had a price cut since it came to the market in any region!
If you think the PS3 can come back, there is no reason to believe the Wii can't come back stronger.
I agree that both Sony and MS will probably keep their market share, but I think MS price cut will have a deeper impact as it is getting in the affordable sub $200 region especially if the Arcade hits sub $150 and Pro sub $200.
The good news for Sony fan(boys) is that PS3 will eventually reach that price point as well and MS will have no more room to cut. The question is if it is too late as Wii is eating out of both MS and Sony's plate and getting mighty fat!

Maybe Bungie is making a Halo for the next Xbox. Since they were adamant to say last Halo from Bungie on the Xbox 360.
Right around now would seem a like a good time to start if the next wave of consoles is to be released around 2011-12.
I thought the preview program started today, then went to check my email, but heard nothing. Was disappointed, but then a ray of light came as someone mentioned this is only available to the press.
So patiently wait another week so MS can notify participants whom have been selected in the next week or so. There is a ray of light!!!
Although I partly agree with you, but Sony had initially given the signal that they considered BC a very important feature of PS3 only to remove it shortly afterward.
I vaguely remember them giving a warning that BC was to be removed in newer cheaper units, but I hope the trend going forward wetter it is MS, Nintendo or Sony is to give us hardware BC!
Bungie is no longer owned by MS, but they have very good relationship. It would be a very small chance anything coming from Bungie would go to Sony. Why jeopardize their relationship with MS. They are basically 2nd party developer now.
Not impossible, just doesn't seem likely. Just get a 360 and enjoy both platforms!
God dang, Xbox widened the gap by 2 million in the holiday season!
From January 09; onwards it is a slow upward trend. Then again, Sony had gained some steam Nov 07' (after Halo 3) until Aug 08'. The gain was split 50/50 to Japan and Europe.
Interesting! Now the question is, where did these numbers come from? Are these VGChartz numbers?
Looks good, but it also looks like pre-rendered (in engine) CGI. Any gameplay pics?
I hope the console exclusive bonus characters aren't from Marvel's roost. That would just be a disservice.
I can see characters like Kratos or Master Chief though....
edit: I see now that it says "feature bonus playable characters unique to that platform." It sounds like it isn't from the Marvel roost!!!
It doesn't matter, because this game will sell like hotcakes and probably have one of the largest online gaming community on consoles.
It would be nice to have 720p, but I had plenty of fun with Halo 3 and sub-HD resolution didn't hamper that fun one bit.
I kind of agree...
Graphics is important, but more importantly is the game-play.
Is the game is a graphical marvel, but the game play is poor, would that compel you to buy it?
edit: as Omega stated below, comparison between two (or more) almost identical games is completely different, because they both are more or less the same experience. However, to most it is insignificant as nobody would probably notice the differences unless you are playing Ghostbus...
but there is one reason that is enough to deter me, price!!!
I prefer a shorter life cycle (or should I say console introduction cycle) at a lower release cost. This is similar to buying a gazillion fast computer like 3 years ago at a huge premium. How fast is your computer running now? For the combined cost of an average upgrade three years ago and an upgrade now, would cost me less than a super hunky upgrade three years ago. My latest upgraded machine will be far superior to the three year old machine.
However, the current pricing has ye...
Well the companies will try and charge as much as possible for most profit possible. The belief that they truly want to give you something more worthwhile if you just paid a little more is ridiculous. If they did, we would have a lot fewer crappy games released.
The gaming market and potential customer base has vastly expanded with many new opportunities to profit from. This should balance out that games are more costly to make. There is no reason to believe that a price hike wil...
I don't think SF IV and ME should be on that list. SF IV complaint is that it didn't make it too long on the Xbox live top 10 list, but what fighting game even gets on it? I can't really remember any.
By the way, I'm playing endwar (on that list) and it is not a bad game. All though might be a little repetitive and the voice command is pretty cool.
Did you also notice that the profit margin at MS overall is extremely high relative to any company on that list.
I'm also surprised at the actual market value of Sony being relatively small, but assume it is due to large debt considering the large amount of assets.
I'm jogging my memory here, but now vaguely remember this. It's a continuous space mapped onto a discrete space. This means the calculations are done as a floating point instead of integers (for all intensive purposes).
So I see where you are heading with this, but still have to give it some more thought on the exact mechanism for this mapping. For instance, how do you determine x,y,z coordinate maps to this point in the continuous space?
However, the same issues app...
I can see why you think so, and personally thought so too, but the Wii has been selling far too well for too long to be a fad. It is finishing up it's 3rd year and we are just starting to see a downward trend. Contrast that with MS and Sony whom both had at least 2 price cuts each to get where it is today.
Furthermore the casual market is just vastly bigger and if anything Nintendo has proven that 3rd party support isn't that big of a deal. Personally I think the market for HD c...
