"The current (and what better be final) iteration of the fifth Splinter Cell game has been in development for roughly eighteen months, according to Masters."

Eighteen months is the lower end of needed time to push out a quality game. That means, extra time for polish is much appreciated!

This means there will be some heavy hitters in first half of 2010' for 360.

Sales aside, Halo opened the doors for FPS on consoles and today FPS is among the largest game genre on consoles. Calling that contribution small is narrow minded.

Compare this to RTS, while we are still waiting for the same to happen to RTS on consoles.

Personally I think this game was overrated. Was it a decent game? Sure, but it was the production value that made it a good game, not game play. Game play wise it had some fun aspects, but among other things choppy frame rate, button mashing game play and lack of good controls severely hampered this game.

Not necessarily only for online, but that is where it gets its long leg from.

Piracy will be rampant on this game like any other PC games. However, if there is one developer that deserves a purchase it is blizzard. They have never put out an average game in my opinion let alone a bad one and they have treated their customers extremely fair!

Release it when it is ready, and I will buy it. I hope their some discounts for people buying all three races though!!!

Speaking about the filter, does anyone know how the n4g filter works?

Vista works great! What is broken about it?

... except for the media hating it!

It still works, will continue to get security updates and expect all future software that support Windows 7 will support Vista.

I like Kotick primarily because he turned around a business about to go bankrupt. Today it is worth billions, created thousands of jobs and provided me with great games.

If I don't like his games or business model I just don't buy his stuff. If you don't like the price hike, and absolutely want the game just wait for it to drop in price within 3 months. I will!

I have a little more hope for Natal, because of

a) primary reason is that Natal isn't intended for the hardcore crowd and clearly aimed at the casual market. This market is much more susceptible to gimmicky new technology. Imagine a Natal Aerobics! The game can check if you are keeping up or not.... Basically there is no confusion about who your consumers are.
a) Developers seem interested, intrigued and curious about the new technology. So far at least two large third part...

I have suspicion that developers would rather just create a Wii Motion Plus game rather than a "Motion Plus" game for the PS3. Why? Larger consumer base on the Wii that doesn't have as high demand on quality and cheaper development cost. This is not to mention, the hardcore crowd generally doesn't like motion controls that the PS3 cater too. Why bother with the PS3 then? Seems like a slam dunk to me, but we will see....

Fair enough, but I hope they would allow you to transfer the rights of the 'original console' downloaded to another one. Isnt't that what the license transfer tool is for?

A combination of takedown and banning is necessary. Sure you will be able to find it, but it will be harder to fund and more people will probably give up. It will never be eliminated though.

I wish there was a replay option so you can report the cheaters. Cheating hurts everyone including the cheaters if everyone was cheating!

I'm not sure your immature answer is even worth a response, but apparently you missed that it was a freaken joke.

Saying that SOME Japanese people have fair skin doesn't change the fact that the protagonist has blue/green eyes. As far as I know, only white people have that. The majority isn't fair skin in Japan let alone the whole South East Asia.

In fact looking at your comment history it is clear who is the troll incapable of a normal discussion without resorting t...

lol... that is hayashi's contribution on Sigma 2.

On a more serious note, I haven't quite figured out if Ryu's eyes are blue or green. I think I have seen them both.

Also, why is the protagonist name Ryu Hayabusa when he is clearly white and the old man (his father) is white with an English first name, Joe Hayabusa.

There is some weird infatuation on the Japanese when it comes to portraying their characters as white.... Why can't they be south east asian...

I would gladly give up any other game for Ninja Gaiden period, but yeah looking forward to Itagaki's next game.

I hope they [Itagaki's team] is serious about 'Tokyo Vikings' being a temporary name.

I'm so sad that Itagaki will no longer be able to make another Ninja Gaiden.

However, I'm always up for more Ninja Gaiden as long as it is good, but can't believe Hayashi practically removed the blood and gave Ryu a gun!

The video is sub-HD so it is hard to spot, but I noticed this:

- the table in the cutscene, the textures are sharper and not blurry on the PS3 version
- the character seems to have better lighting in the 360 version
- the character seems to have more detailed textures on the PS3 version

Anyone notice anything else concrete?

edit: thanks gaffyh for pointing out the HD video. Downloading it now.

For one, the games you listed aren't of equal genre so a comparison would be unfair not to mention meaningless. Fun is also a very subjective and hence the variations you see in review scores.

Comparing the same game on both platforms gives us a nice baseline and it is clear what techniques are difficult to implement for a nicer effect. Furthermore, with the recent Ghostbuster debacle I really feel these comparison is a necessity.

On the other hand, if the result a...

Well, when your Xbox Live Gold Subscription expires you can still play this game online for free on PSN.

6187d ago 7 agree3 disagreeView comment

Agreed. Most of the time these differences are so minor nobody would notice it even if pointed out.

Controller and maybe platform preferences matter more in my opinion.

However, the debacle of Ghostbuster proves that these comparisons are a necessary evil although I enjoy reading them.

On another note, why is that the 360 version gets higher texture quality while it would seem like the extra space on blu-ray discs would benefit the PS3 more in this area?...
