Sony Santa Monica I assume. I've seen it that way before, but at least these days they go by SMS - Santa Monica Studio.

In the scenario of getting a match or two of, in your case Rocket League, a setup including a headset, 3 cables, an audio breakout box, a cell phone and a separate app you'll have to fire up and sign into doesn't seem to align with the "quick match" mindset. That's a lot of setup. If Nintendo could have built it on a system level and had a wireless chip built into the Switch, that would be quick, convenient and clean.

Honestly though, I have to hope wh...

I agree. If they require you to be plugged into both the phone and Switch, they should make the dongle bluetooth (or proprietary wireless if they must) and allow you to just use the headset without being physically plugged in. It is truly unfortunate they couldn't figure out how to build this stuff in at a system level and just include a wireless transmitter/bluetooth chip right in the Switch itself.

I'm sure they didn't have the luxury of losing the 5-10% of sy...

Yup! In the scenario of getting a match or two of MK8 in, it is good to have a quick, straightforward setup involving a headset, 3 cables, an audio breakout box, a cell phone and a separate app you'll have to fire up and sign into.

It's as easy as 1-2-Switch-3-4-5-6-7...

Honestly though, I have to hope when you want to get a quick game in they'll let you do all chat audio through a bluetooth headset if you are willing to give up in-game audio....

If the app is on your phone...why can't you just use a bluetooth headset? If you simply want to hear chat audio and not game audio, I'm hopeful they let you do that.

If you want to use something like this and you HAVE to have both connected for it to work then yea...that's either a poor design by Hori (who usually seem to know what they are doing), or an insane requirement by Nintendo lol

Don't pay him much mind. He basically complains about everything - I don't think I've seen a single positive comment out of him, regardless of platform. I believe he's one of those fabled trolls.

Well, they did say that when it releases next year it'll have been 5 years (though that's obviously just taking it from 2013 to 2018 and not accounting for months). So at least they can do math, even if it is speculative napkin math lol.

But yea, given they keep putting out quality games (money is not really the article's focus here), I can't say I see how they are in trouble. I don't really like GTA games so I haven't bought 5, but even I can see th...

Given this game is on a ton of platforms, shouldn't it just prove that indie games can be excellent and every platform can be an indie haven?

Change that to something like "if you liked Destiny 1 you'll *likely* enjoy Destiny 2" (and vice versa) and you've pretty much got it. It may seem kinda nit-picky, but we've had a lot of examples of sequels falling short of originals and - on slightly rarer occasions - sequels building on the foundation of the original and exceeding it.

They are improving the story, removing/lessening Grimoire cards and hopefully kind of punching everything up a bit. ...

So...it's difficult to agree? Tricksy wording with the double negative lol

Simple-minded. What an admirable trait! lol

You can look here at number 9 as to the best guess:

It is interesting how turns of phrase like this are born, and doubly so when we can only speculate as to their true origin, or why they became popular to begin with.

Actually read the article or watch the video. It would just offer options for those with lower specs to get a decent 4k approximation using similar techniques. It'd even let you hang on to your card for a little longer assuming you found a small resolution reduction with a quality uprender good enough until you had the need/want/saved enough money to upgrade your GPU. I have no idea why anyone would view this as a bad thing.

I have a GTX 1080, before that a 970. I could...

I think you hit on why nVidia or AMD would not be keen on implementing this as an official feature at the driver/hardware level: they want you to feel the need to upgrade. If you felt like you continued to get a decent experience, you might hold off another year or more before upgrading. A lot of their money comes off of repeat customers feeling that upgrade itch. It could be interesting for AMD to consider though - given their lower marketshare, increasing sales overall vs a slower obsolesce...

Look into the actual gameplay portion of this game instead of the graphics. You'll see they are trying some different things in this release, with open world golf courses, golf cart racing, fishing and all sorts of interesting (and kind of bizarre lol) additions. The graphics might not be the most impressive, but I'd say they are trying where it counts most here.

Yea I think hate is a bit strong. I'd say "indifferent" is a more apt descriptor. But I'm of the mind that Valve probably has earned more good will than it deserves, and that's coming from a guy who's pretty invested in Steam thanks to years of building up a huge library there.

At $600, I can't imagine they'd be losing any money. A 6 teraflop GPU (RX 580) goes for about $200-210 on the market for a base card right now. Economies of scale and such will bring that cost down for MS. That leaves over $400 for the rest of the components. I think they need to aim at that $449 price for both consumer appeal and to put it in decent position to combat an immediate Pro price cut once Scorpio pricing is announced. If Sony drops to $349, $449 still looks decent for the ...

I can't imagine it coming with an Elite controller at that price. Elite controller MSRP is $150. Xbox One S MSRP is like $300. That means you'd be getting the upgraded specs for only $50. However I think we can assume they have some wiggle in that Elite controller pricing. If they can announce a price drop on that to $100, then it'd be $100 premium for the extra grunt which doesn't seem outlandish.

But I think regardless their max price has to be $500. The P...

Since it is an always online title, you will have to use battle.net regardless. Even if that wasn't the case, they wouldn't fragment their userbase with a separate launcher just for the game if bought one way versus another. So even if they do end up having a physical boxed copy, like most other titles that have gone that route I'd bet dollars to doughnuts it'll forgo install discs and just have a battle.net code (or is it Blizzard Tech now? lol) inside the box.

I still fire it up for an hour or two here and there. I quit about halfway through the leveling due to poor drops and their over reliance on you grinding a ton of side missions to be a capable level for some of the later story missions. But they changed things up and rewards/drops are better and it doesn't feel as grindy now - still grindy, as any gear-based game is, but not hateful.

It's an enjoyable romp if you are OK with the BL2 style "headshot ≠ immediate ...
