This makes as much sense as asking "Why buy games made by ID when you know they will release the full source code in about 10 years" or "Why pay for cinema tickets when in a few years time you will be able to watch it for free in public TV.

And this also neglects the fact that the earlier you buy the game the easier it is to sell it 2nd hand (if you are the kind of person who trades in games), and that for online games the community is most active post game lau...

Oblivion on the Xbox 360 had better textures and included 2XMSAA missing from the PS3 port. I don't see how people can claim the opposite.
For evidence, you can check old beyond3d thread for pixel counting and analysis.

You're expecting the n5G community to remain logically consistent? Come on! If you try to apply some of the resident N4Ger's logic to an AI it would probably implode on some kind of division by zero or something.

@drosera1: What you fail to understand is that games are more than resolution and framerate.
Have you played the Perfect Dark remake on XBLA? It's a 60fsp 1080p game, but it still looks tons worse than Prefect Dark Zero which was a 30fps 720p launch title on the Xbox 360.

The graphical jumps between game engines in 5 years is incredible even when running on the exact same hardware. Advancements made in rendering technics, lighting systems, physics etc. make the co...

@morgob,
Actually, the reason it's very hard to go in Starcraft 2 for 7 matches without losing is the same reason it's very hard to go in that game for 7 matches without winning (unless you're doing it on purpose). The whole design philosophy behind Starcraft 2 online is that it doesn't matter how good or bad you are, after a few matches the system estimates your skill level and matches you with better and worse players trying to get your winning ratio at about 50%.

Hufandpuf, you mean just like Starcraft 2?

IHateYouFanboys pretty much nailed it. I don't see why people suddenly think night racing and carting are the new standard by which we judge racing simulators while ignoring every other lackluster feature in the game: be it last gen graphics on both cars and tracks, horrid AI, car bumper physics, terrible UI, lacking online features, and an overall feeling of an unfinished game overall.
If weather and carting these are what some people here are looking for in a "proper" ...

Tom Chick is not just a legend, but also a prophet. He even knew in advance that this ridiculous conversation right here in N4G is going to happen (and how badly it reflects on the sad state of some people involved):

"I do wish the reaction was to wonder *why* I didn’t like Deus Ex. it’s often just shorthand to dismiss something else I’ve written. “Oh, he didn’t like Mass Effect 2? Well, he didn’t like Deus Ex either!” That’s just lazy and it ultimately hurts the level o...

I played Killzone 3 AFTER Killzone 2 and Halo reach. I can tell you - it's really not.

@Gumtrol

Rocktstar never said GTA IV was limited by the 360 disks, they said that the fact not all SKUs have an HDD are limiting because you can't store and stream stuff on the hard drive. But they still managed to get the streaming stuff going well, and the PS3 version of GTA IV didn't keep up regardless of that - so it only would have made the difference bigger.

Think about it: if having less memory only limits the details, it effectively means that...

Fanboyism aside? You could have just as much claimed that it's PS3 256MB graphic memory limitations and make more sense: after all, some games come on multiple discs on the X360 version today, but even GTA IV and RDR ran on a lower resolution on the PS3 so you're already having an issue right there.
Oh: And unlike overcoming disc limitation, it's not that they can pack in extra memory with every copy of the PS3 version...

the whole metacritic VS N4G debate is irrelevant because N4G scores also include tons of unmoderated junk sites.

@foryouonly
Why did you come to that misguided conclusion and why do you think this is relevant? I played both Uncharted 1 and 2 (haven't got to 3 yet obviously).
But this has nothing to do with my experience of the games (I haven't played the third Gears or Arkham City as well) because my own impression with the games is irrelevant. It'...

Seems like we're reading different reviews then. From what I read it seems that critics agree that Batman is leaps and bounds ahead of the previous Batman (Portal 2 also deserves a mention for similar praises) while games like Uncharted 3 and Gears 3 are cursed for being a franchise in their third iteration and therefore get some "just incremental improvements" and "same old mechanics" notions from many critics.

Regardless of that, Skyrim is still not ...

@zeeshan, article is bogus - don't count on that 8 mil figure.
Uncharted 3 actually sits at less than 5 million - it's the whole series (including bundles etc) that shipped 8 million units according to Sony:

Actually, the 10/10 review in IGN sparked more discussion and got more hits then both the first 8 from Eurogamer and the C from AVC.

So going by your logic, it seems that giving hyped games 10s is the actual way for journalists to establish themselves and their site. Claiming that an 8/10 is an invalid score just because you think the site is looking for hits automatically invalidates the 10/10 scores for the exact same reason.

It's a smarter idea in gene...
