Well you're probably referring to the (non-existent) Wii version of Skyrim, because comparing a Wii Zelda games to a proper capable Elder Scroll game is not even funny.
It's like comparing a crayon paint on a napkin (be it the most beautiful and well made crayon paint) to the Sistine chapel. It's the sheer scale that makes the comparison look ridiculous.
@Best, you got it all wrong:
low score = website hits *IFF* game = Uncharted 3
http://n4g.com/news/890536/...
Check out how different the comment section is for both reviews. Imagine the result of someone like Baliw trolling the Uncharted 3 review writing stuff like "low score = reality" or "uc3 = uc2 with new skin"...
@Why o why:
I'm obviously not saying that only games with 90 upwards are worth mentioning, but when talking about the top 10 games for a console this year 90 is about the mark you need to get inside the list. LarZen was only referring to that top 10 list and based his entire "dry period" claim on that so I think it's only fair to compare apples to apples.
I myself loved Infamous 2 - sandbox games are my favorites and topping that with superh...
What does your "installing glitch" video have to do with anything? It's a known bug which this video abuses and Bethesda is already working on a fix:

In the meantime just play from the disc and you wan't have this issue.
But way to go on trying derail the discussion from t...
@_LarZen_
What "quality" do exclusive games have that makes them "stand out"!? Other than catering to stupid fanboy wars?
Face it, 2011 just proved the opposite: multiplatforms like Skyrim, Batman and Portal are more critically acclaimed than high profile exclusives like Gears, Uncharted and Zelda. And the sad truth is that both the PS3 and the X360 managed to push only 2 exclusive titles each that topped the 90 mark.
On top of tha...
Old School? GTA 2 is available for free and is the dictionary definition of old school
Nice comment. Rated T for Trolling ;)
That's how statistics work - deal with it. The more data plots you have the more you refine your model based on new information.
Oh, and the PS3 was actually over tracked in 2010 (q3 if I recall correctly). They had to adjust it down once Sony gave the official shipped numbers because their sale through estimation was higher than that...
@Biggest
Did you actually write "Women play it to get some form of attention from their partner"!?
I'm sorry if I'm being blunt but that's probably one of the lowest,and most childish comment I've ever seen.
It reeks of sexism towards women, blind fanboyism towards games, and just sounds like the sad stereotype of a gamer that the idiots at Fox like to complain about. Women play games to get attention from men!? You seriously need to grow up. ...
Rater M for Millions
And I always thought that great > excellent. We have "Alexander the great" and "Alexander the excellent" wouldn't sound as impressive...
Oh, and reviewers who are the first to comment on their own review trying to justify it? That's probably the worst kind of insecurity (well, aside from console fanboys perhaps).
Even if the building was burning?
To @estranged and anyone claiming the Gears numbers were "shipped":
They were actually not "shipped" and not "sold through". They're the number of people who actually logged to Xbox Live with a copy of Gears 3, so the actual number (assuming that at least some people who bought the game don't log in to live) is probably even higher.
From the Microsoft PR quote:
"...has driven more than three million unique users to lo...
da_2pacalypse comment made me want to wish for a game called "Demon's soles".
You will be playing Al Bundy in that game.
As for the review itself: probably the lousiest piece of writing I've seen in a while. It basically tells you nothing about the game that you didn't already know, and the fact that the writer accomplished about a fraction of the game makes the review quite pointless in the first place. Why the rush to review a game if you can&...
This happens when games are using the HDD as a temp cache to stream content faster (since HDD read speeds are faster). It basically copies some content from the CD to the HDD for later use.
The problem is that if you already have the game installed on the HDD, the console is basically trying to read&write on the HDD at the same time - and this is generally not a good idea since it really hinders performance (the HDD magnetic needle has to juggle between two locations on the plate)...
None? I have right next to me a copy of Fifa Street 3 running in full 1080p on my Xbox. There are obviously just a few retail games running in actual 1080p (just like the PS3) but you got it all wrong claiming there are none.
And every time it sounded just as stupid...
I don't think existing install base were so lured. It's anacdotal but out of all the X360 owners which I know, none bothered about the Kinect.
The Kinect catered more to casual Wii owners who wished to upgrade to the HD era. Obviously it's not that easy to lure a casual gamers to spend hundreds more dollars on a new device, but the fact is that millions of X360-kinect bundles were actually sold - you can't possibly claim that this is existing install base since they al...
I find the whole article ridiculous and dripping in tinted-goggles nostalgia.
As much as I love NES classics and as much as Zelda midi music seemed eternal, listening to it in the latest Zelda feels like a hollow experience compared to modern game era - ones established after the 5.1 mixing founded about 10 years ago by the first Halo game. Even Mario Galaxy made this transition and now sounds leaps and bounds over prior Mario titles.
He also writes stuff like
And they are absolutely right in that regards:
In the past 5 years, we've seen the COD formula enhanced and evolved much more than the Zelda formula.
Think about it: in 2006 we had COD3 and now in 2011 we have Modern Warfare 3 - That's the same timeframe between Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword.
Now try heading back to COD3 and see how vast of an improvement MW3 is: How much the visual stlye evolved, how much the gameplay was tweaked, how many more modes and...
