I don't see how 8 GBS of ram could ever be a bad thing. Yeah you might have some sloppy coding in the beginning but late in the console cycle lets say 6 years form now you are going to have highly optimized games using all 7-8 GBs of ram.
I'm actually more worried about the optical media not being enough. Some PS3 games like Uncharted series and Metal Gear maxed 50GB BR out using textures and sound only from a system only having 512 MBs of split pooled ram. Now they h...
Windows 8 is faster than Windows 7 but good lord that thing is unstable. I'm on my third reimage since late January. By comparison I've reimaged Windows 7 ounce, and none for Windows Vista.
While its good DS is coming to Japan for the 360, it did pretty good in Japan on the PS3. I think the developers might be better off porting Dark Souls to the Wii U. I don't think sales will be great on the Wii U but I'm certain it will sale more than the Xbox 360 version in Japan.
Any who its well known American gaming systems and games do not do well in Japan excluding Apple devices. On the PS3 you have games like GOW 3, Uncharted 2&3 not even cracking 500,000 u...
Nintendo has allot of money in the bank, their fist party support will be strong but they need to impress allot of people at E3. Nintendo also needs to develop their own engines and release it to third party developers, something to my knowledge they have not done. UE3 is only going to be around for soo much longer and with no engines that can get down to the metal Wii are seeing graphics only on par with 7 year old hardware.
That list is not very long, many gamers are not buying $300 plus console just to play Indie games, that's what Android and App IOS devices are for. Any who article listed 11 third party games, its amazing Nintendo considers 11 third party games great third party support going forward. True they have had third party games released, good ones, but good lord those sales numbers are low. Many games not even cracking 50,000 sold. All games listed will probably sell less than 100,000 units like...
@ dcbronco
"You're probably right. But given that they use him as the face of the company, they might use him as the scapegoat too."
Totally agree with the scapegoat, I have said this in a couple of other post of course filled with disagrees. He always get hit with the hardware questions, if Mr. Iwata or Miyamoto get hit with an hard question their interpreters immediately escort them off stage or Reggie steps in to answer. I know they don't...
@ dcbronco
I don't think it's Reggie calling the shots. Reggie is only playing the cards Satoru Iwata dealt. Reggie A. should leave Nintendo before his reputation is dragged through the dirt. NOJ provided him with outdated hardware and a low marketing budget making his job twice as hard to appeal to third party developers and consumers.
Interviewers always ask Reggie the tough questions while Shigeru Miyamoto and Satoru Iwata sneak out the back door....
I would say yes since most of the news about the Xbox Next Durango 720 or whatever the world you want to call it has been negative. Always on connection, 8 Gigs of slow DDR 3 ram, weaker GPU than the PS4, and Kinect focused hardware, are just some of things Sony will market against if the rumors are true. I will eventually buy both consoles but for my $300-400 dollars this holiday season it will probably be the PS4 if I had to pick one right now.
On the other hand Microsoft c...
I think MS will make Kinect the primary focus because of how much money Kinect brought MS this generation. It sucks because Kinect has killed my interest in gaming on my 360, and downright ruined Rare. I mostly play games on my PC nowadays on my 12 Gig, 256 GB SSD,I7 970, GTX 670 monster rig. I will probably buy both true next gen consoles for the exclusives and the ability to play from the comforts of my couch on my 60 inch 3D plasma.
The hardware numbers look good but like we all know publishers make money on software. Wii U only has two titles that has gone over 1 Million sold both published by Nintendo, the highest grossing third party game has only sold around 390,000 units or so with most of the Wii U titles not breaking 50,000 units sold. In North America Wii U hardware sales are abysmal in units sold since December. Most stores I've seen are fully stocked on Wii U units. I assume most of Wii U installment base w...
Why the two disagrees? I would like to see less Kinect, a couple of old IPs needing refreshing, and a ton of new IPs. New console launches is when you typically see new IPs, just hoping MS does not release crap hardware emphasizing Kinect features while falling back on milked franchises.
I have a feeling Microsoft announcement will be filled with Kinect 2.0 crap with kids pretending to have fun and adults looking silly. On the other hand they could come out swinging with Killer Instincts 3, Jade Empire 2, or bring back Mech Warrior if they still have the license. What would also be nice a ton of new none Kinect IPs to show case the new hardware.
@gatlomamasity
OMG what don't you understand about new IP? All the games you listed are reboots, sequel 25, or games not awhole lot of people are talking about. You mentioned Wonderful 101, you call that a block buster? What are you like 12? Pikmin 3 (WTF) Xenoblade 2 looks ok, but nothing I've not seen or played before and I doubt it will be an block buster title.
You might just be 12 calling my comment dumb about the hardware not being powerful eno...
I like Reggie, its his bosses that's ruining Nintendo. He does the best he can do to make up for Nintendo of Japan short comings. Reggie is handed a bowl of shit by Nintendo of Japan and asked to make brown rice, I think lands somewhere in-between when it comes to marketing the Wii U.
Just stating facts my friend. Only 1 third party game has sold above 300,000 units with the vast majority selling under 100,000. Nintendo has not shown any new IP or blockbuster title prior to E3. Hardware too weak to support the latest engines, and poor marketing pretty much sums up the Wii U. If Nintendo release new hardware too soon they will alienate some of their loyal fan base, if they wait too late they will alienate third party developers, catch 22 I guess.
Nintendo has a long history of alienating third party support. Rather it being cartridge based format like the N64, Disney level of censorship for the SNES, or under powered hardware for the Wii's. Gamcube was the one exception to an certain extent. It was powerful enough to go toe to toe with Sony and Microsoft, good games, great graphics for its time, hell I brought it to play Resident Evil 0/remake, Star Fox, and Star wars games.
Nintendo is better off cutting bait at this moment. You can't keep support for system entirely on 1st party games. Sega tried it and it failed with the Dreamcast. You have third party developers pissed off their titles not breaking 100,000 units sold with most of EA games selling under 50,000 units.
As I mentioned in my other post Nintendo needs to clean house in their R&D department, no way in the hell they should have let this system roll off the assembly lines bein...
Meant as a joke my friend, but yeah the comparisons are about right. Any who I like what I'm seeing from Sony with the 8 GBs of ram and performance around 2 TFLOPS in the PS4. Microsoft remains to be seen, the more time passes, more they are becoming like Nintendo.
I'm sad to see Nintendo on the ropes, purchased every system up until the Wii, didn't care for the remote, and playing 480i/P games on a 60 inch plasma, yuck. I can see Nintendo rebounding with new IPs,...
According to this article http://wiiudaily.com/wii-u-...
Wii CPU can only muster 33 GFLOPS, twice as slow as the Xbox 360 reported 77 GFLOPS or so.
50 GB BRs should be ok in the beginning of the console cycle but the same was said about the Xbox 360 DVD-9. It was ok in the beginning but as developers became familiar with the expanded ram from the original Xbox you started seeing multi disc games. I think even the PS2 4 MB of Vram had an hand full of games that maxed out DVD-9.
This current generation we're seeing 1K-2K textures using only 256-512 MBs of ram push the optical media limits in certain in games. With 8 GB...
