@SOAD
The thing I noticed straight away is the increase in texture detail. The image itself is just sharper in general, probably due to the MLAA.
You bitch about the melee animations and then compare the game to Reach, which has the assassination animation? Halo is also a bad game to talk about if you're worried about cheap kills. Rocket whores were a problem in K2, but they couldn't dominate a map, while you can't say the same about your cartoon game with green guys shooting purple things. Also, you can't get an overshield or run around while invisible in Killzone, while the same can't be said of Halo.
Wha...
It's gonna be fun to pick those guys out of the air with a sniper rifle.
Another generic post.
Yes, and one of them is a 360 exclusive from a 1st party dev.
You don't even know the difference between 'than' and 'then'.
Zachmo, you're an idiot. Instead of trying to use time travel to compare the series, how about you compare the individual games, as they've each had four main games thus far (Halo 1-3 and ODST and GT 1-4), with the fifth coming out later this year.
Also, I still love how the argument comes down to sales now that the 360 fans have nothing left to gloat about anymore. In the end, I could care less about sales. Demon's Souls didn't sell like hotcakes, but it doesn't ...
@Anomen I'd be willing to bet that you could easily sink 400 hours into this game, which means that if you did buy a PS3 just to play GT5, it would have cost you less than $1 an hour to do so. So no, I don't think anyone is exaggerating here.
I can imagine this having the biggest effect on a series like Gran Turismo, where the devs have to model and texture hundreds of cars and close to a hundred track variants. Apart from dev time, dev costs should naturally come down as well. Too bad this didn't come to fruition earlier, as we might not be spending $60 for a new release. Oh how I miss the days when a $50 price tag was considered a bit steep.
Yeah, my guess is that this is one of the first tracks you'll play in the game. I'm also going to assume that they'll start things out a little easier compared to the last two games, since the environment will probably take some getting used to for people new to the series. Motorstorm can be hard enough for newcomers, and the introduction of a crumbling city in addition to the already chaotic nature of the racing could put people off if the proper learning curve isn't introduc...
You have to remember that these so-called journalists are the ones that said the cars in GT4 didn't have enough grip, while evidence showed that the highest grip tires in said game gave you more grip than you could find in real life. They want their simulations to be easy, hence the more arcade nature of Forza 3 ( I have no problem with the Forza series. It's fun as hell, but it is a bit of an arcade racer).
Does anyone know if you can make your own tracks, or are you just altering the existing courses? Either way, this is a great feature.
Driving
I liked the feel of the controls, but the handling model just wasn't very realistic. The car always turned in and never showed a hint of understeer. And for a rally game, the courses were much too smooth. Any bumps or jumps were rarely anywhere near an apex.
Also, if history is anything to go by, I doubt those pics are of gameplay, as Codemasters tend to show rendered artwork when they unveil a game. Either that, or they're using a pretty beastly DX11 setup.
Wow, are we actually going to get a rally game this time? For me, Dirt 2 was too much of an arcade racer, with not enough actual rallying. Lets hope this is a return to form.
Oh, and if I have to listen to more "extreme" slang, I'm gonna stuff myself down an incinerator.
The devil must be freezing his nuts off, 'cause I actually agree with you Baltis. It helps that you explained your hatred this time. Keep it up and maybe people won't disagree as soon as they see your name.
It looks like variations. You can see the list on the right side of one of the pics.
It has been completed, sir. I'm Ron Burgundy?
Simulator?
I came...twice.
On topic: I hope they announce a beta soon, as Feb. 2011 now seems ages away.
