I remember I couldn't stand "boy bands" but now I realize that there could be much worse things for younger people to be into.
This is great for the Playstation brand and maybe it will help introduce a new generation of people to what real gaming can be like.

RE, DMC, Socom, and many other series have been ruined by making games more "accessible".

Any real game collector with that many games should have backup consoles anyway.

I don't see the problem with having options personally and I find the prospect of "digital only" a bit offputting. I like to have complete control over games that I buy and the potential for that to be taken away could be higher in certain digital only environments. I would like to ...

Their problem though, is that they have to convince everyone they are on even footing in a situation where many people know they are behind.

How many times have we heard this kind of hyperbolic PR talk over the years. These people are beginning to remind of story of the Boy who Cried Wolf.

The next gen consoles are using custom architecture, some of it proprietary(PS4 at least). I hope you don't think that an x86 system can't include custom architecture.
They will get a lot out of the systems quickly but they will get the most out of the systems with time, so you are at least partially correct.

To an extent. It was probably more of a time and money thing as far as optimization goes. They probably did as much as they could with the power and simplicity of the new hardware for the money. Now they will be forced to look into more avenues so that their games will not get blown out of the water by first party PS4 exclusives.

There are plenty of articles discussing how the next gen consoles have been specifically designed to get better over the course of the next few years. It's also illogical to assume that massive corporations would release consoles that couldn't improve over time.

Fell in love with this series on PSP. I highly recommend it especially to those interested in the genre. Ys might be one of the most underrated series of all time. They are among the best in the genre and I can't wait to play this new gem.
It looks as fun as it is beautiful.
I hope they have some modes that are really challenging.
I left my PS3 when I moved a while back and now I have a Vita, etc.
When I buy it again I will have a HUGE backlog of quality games to play.
I wonder if the mechs will have health regen and aim assist too.
