Like anyone cared about Turkey PS4 launch I meant. It may be insignificant to people in Japan and US, for example, but the fact that at least it won't be launching in Turkey in 2013 can be extrapolated to similar markets.

Don't go up in arms so quickly!?

@HyperBear: You must a secondary system chip engineer to know so much about it :) Can you name a few secondary system chips?

We are not talking about BIOS chips btw.

You couldn't be more wrong about the situation. Do you think the secondary system chip can encode game video feed without having access to the video ram? And where do you think the encoded data would go first, straight to the harddisk without an adequate buffer in the RAM? Do you think it can...

Having a second chip doesn't mean that the second chip has to have its own RAM. The second chip also will have access to the 8GB RAM, and since they already went to extremes with the amount of RAM, why should they not use it and pay for extra ram for the second chip? It wouldn't make sense to not use the enormous RAM for all those background tasks.

Like anyone cared, PS4 will not launch in Turkey in 2013. While insignificant to most, it means that small markets will not see PS4 in 2013. I'm expecting a Japan / US launch first, and before the end of 2013 it should launch in bigger European markets.

Yes, I know someone working at Microsoft. He said they hadn't received the next gen Xbox kits yet (working on different projects till now), but they were going to. When I asked him if he could give any tidbits, he said he might as well pack his stuff and leave Microsoft :)

"Even today this 6 year old GPU is still capable of playing BF3 in 1080p."

I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing for the consumer. We are past the point of 8bit 2d graphics. Game developers can already convey all sorts of nuances through graphics. Photo-realism can wait, and we get to keep our dollars in our pockets.

Having to upgrade your gfx card every few years may be exciting for some, but I don't think everybody needs that bleed...

People can't get thickest of sarcasm on the net (There are even people taking dailypixel.com seriously which even have banners stating the site is a joke gaming news site.)

It's easy to miss the sarcasm on your post as there are actual people who would seriously say what you posted :)

So Kinect makes you watch a disgusting scene, you just can't turn your head away :)

I'm sure the feature is optional tho.

Thanks for the feedback. You have to wait for 15 seconds and click the link below. It is a very confusing way to download, I know. But the video is very good for showing how 60fps is much better especially when camera pans and stuff moves.

At most, PS3 will come with a hybrid hard-drive. At the PS4 reveal, it is mentioned that it will have a massive harddrive. Which means it will definitely have a conventional hard-disk with moving parts.

The other option being, it can have an internal SSD storage ALA recent slim PS3's. Although simultaneous transfers are possible which would greatly enhance throughput, it is not being put to use as the gameOs would require important changes. They may well make it a standar...

This is a great test, it also lets you know if you are actually updating at desired fps. It also lets you see how 60 fps enhances presentation value of even a casual game (the jumping block is reminiscent of casual games.)

Even then, there's little guarantee that the browser will play the gif at 60fps. Best is to check using hardware accelerated video.

This is not a good test. Take a look at my other posts here.

This is SUCH a bad test.

There's no guarantee of 60fps update in a browser window.

Please take a look at my blog post:

60fps is great for bigger movements, camera pans, fast perspective changes.

60fps enhances the feel of any type of game over 30fps counterpart. Bejewelled or Zuma at 30fps looks signicantly inf...

Hi Gribble,

This is a very bad comparison. Like 4logpc says, there's no way to guarantee 60fps gifs inside a browser. Hardware accelerated video would be a better candidate to test 30/60fps.

Please take a look at the videos on my blog post:

Granted, these are actual camera footage. Please take a look at the videos in a har...

Indeed, get rid of jaggies, 720p should do just fine. I always say, would you really complain if games looked as good as realistic as 720p photos?

Also, here's me blabbing about 30fps / 60fps:

Consoles will always produce better visuals per transistor, and thanks to consoles, developers can target a static hardware and can optimize their routines to death. So for gaming, instead of sheer power that nobody can use to full extent because of many PC's with gazillion different setups, you have a set piece of hardware that you can extract every ounce.

I don't see anything wrong with that.

Edit: Here's Unity statistics- Take a look at PC'...

You can target 60fps with a PS2, you can target 60fps with a Wii (Nintendo is committed to 60fps for good reasons), you can damn well target 60fps on a PS4. Console power is only indirectly related to this dilemma. The fact of the matter is, you will ALWAYS be able to cram more into 33 ms (30fps) compared to 16ms (60fps), regardless of how much power you have.

It's the sad truth, screenshots do not reflect fps. That's why, most devs will go for prettier still shots, i...

The thing with resolution is, your experience may not be better depending on your distance to screen and the screen size, so not everybody will be affected by a resolution upgrade.

However, an increased frames per second is beneficial to everybody, bringing much smoother motion, more responsive controls, and fluidity on the overall package, regardless of your screen size and your viewing position.

Having said that, I agree with you that the frames per second ...

First of all, they surely are not aiming for 720p, it is 1080p. But I wish it was 60fps. (I *personally* would prefer 720p over 30fps, if 1080p60 is not possible of course.)
