I don't think GT5 will blow anybody away with its graphics unless it looks a lot better than GT5 Prologue. I have already played GT5P and Forza 3 so I doubt that GT5 will blow me away.

Where is the technical paper describing in detail how God of War 3 is doing more processes and why it looks better? There isn't one. It is just opinion. I honestly think God of War 3 looks great, but it is not better looking than Uncharted 2 or Killzone 2 or Gears of War 2 or Mass Effect 2. It has its own style and it is a fantastic looking game that will be enjoyed by all those who play it, but quit acting like it is a fact that it looks better ...

If the PS3 didn't have a GPU it would put out graphics less than half as good as it does now. It would basically be stuck between a PS2 and a PS3 in terms of the graphics it could produce.
Even Sony realized that the Cell alone would be a disaster and added in a GPU at last minute.

It is very subjective. Over the years I have learned that nobody agrees on which games have the best graphics because everybody sees things differently. Some people focus on art direction and the use of color; some people focus on texture detail; others are really keyed in on lighting differences. The point is, none of us perceive graphics in the same way.
Very true. The PS3 and Xbox 360 are equivalent and the PC is on a whole different level.
PC graphics blow away console graphics. The fact that some of these people can't see that is funny, and it is no wonder that they tend to be the same people that think that PS3 games look better than 360 games. It's obvious some of these people have no clue what constitutes good graphics.
Only Halo 3 failed to live up to graphical expectations, and that was only because people had super high expectations based on the fact that it was going to be on new hardware and people saw how good Gears of War looked so they expected to be better looking than that. Halo 3 is still a nice looking game.
Halo 1 and Halo 2 were among the best looking games on the Xbox and nobody expected Halo 3 ODST to look better than Halo 3 because Bungie told us they would be using the same ...

By your standard of being blown away I guess I would have to say that no games this generation have blown me away. Except maybe Gears of War because it had a new level of graphics when it came out. But everything else that has come out since then has not blown me away because they are all too similar in graphical quality. No game has been a big enough leap over other games to really blow me away.

I know what you mean. Killzone 2 was kind of a mixed bag. Some things looked great and other things looked poor. All in all it was a nice looking game, but not really any nicer than games like Gears of War 2 or Uncharted 2. And still far from Crysis on a powerful gaming rig.

Very good point. The Final Fantasy series was on Nintendo consoles before Sony came along. Now it is also on the 360. Big deal. People need to grow up and stop taking everything so seriously. Just be glad that you can play it on the console you own.

They don't really look better. I think PS3 fans have chanted that mantra so long and so loud that a lot of people kind of just go with it, but I don't see it.

It's true. If you think any company knows exactly how many of their consoles are currently in people's homes, you are lost.
Anybody that thinks the number of players has almost anything to do with the console itself are naive. It is almost all network code and server side stuff, and almost nothing to do with the GPU or CPU of the console.
There were PC games that networked far more people than this and yet those games worked on PCs that would be considered pathetically weak by todays standards.
Wrong. Gears of War 2 was just as big of an improvement over Gears of War 1 as Motor Storm 2 was over Motor Storm 1, or Resistance 2 was over Resistance 1.
Mass Effect 2 is another huge improvement over the first Mass Effect. So, clearly games continue to improve on the 360.
Upcoming 360 games like Alan Wake and Halo Reach are also significant steps forward.
