It certainly tells a thrilling tale, and it plays nicely, but it won't change the industry or anything.
I never expected this to get such a response. I just want to point out that I love Max Payne 3, and Rockstar games in general, I just feel that now they are more interested in telling the story than providing a game.
Having said that, even at their worst, Rockstar are still better than most.
I have it on both platforms also, and I much prefer it on the PC. It just feels right! Imagine if they opened up mod support for this beast!
The PC version has sold almost HALF the amount of the Xbox 360 version in only two months. It has taken 2 YEARS for the 360 version to sell 1.4 million, and a good chunk of those would have been from the free downloads bundled by MS!
1.4 million copies over 2.5 years with 5 years worth of development costs doesn't seem like a success when RDR sells 10 million and has half the dev time.
Even less of a success when the PC version sells 600,000 + in the first two months.
Well said!
Thanks mate, glad N4G users are enjoying the podcast
If you're a fan of those old school shooters that rely on reflexes then you'll love it!
To make a successful futuristic shooter I feel you need to have a unique setting. Syndicate and Deus Ex: Human Revolution do this really well. BLOPS 2 looks like a rip off across so many franchises, and it feels like it will just be CoD but with some futuristic gadgets. DEHR was in 2027, and it managed to be bad ass.
Yes, yet games like Braid and Limbo started as Xbox 360 exclusives, and I included those on my 360 list yesterday. :P
I agree with you, I'm a HUGE Super Meat Boy fan, but I feel it performs better on the PC. The fact that you can also create, share and download new worlds give its the upper edge as a PC indie title. Stay tuned for my PC indie article coming soon!
HAHA he talks about that in the interview.
I always love it when a developer really cares about their community. I think Valve care, but because of their position they often have to keep hush hush on certain subjects.
I think it would be a great way for publishers to model deep and engaging communities. Give something back to the hardcore fans of your franchise, as they are the only ones who are going to interact on such a positive level. The discounts won't be that damaging when only a handful of your total audience are taking advantage of it.
How is it competing with onlive? It's not a streaming service? Onlive also doesn't have access to the games and publishers that Valve have access to. Have you even used the Onlive service?
Most of those "sales" were the free download copy bundled with Xbox 360 consoles after the release, along with copies of Forza 3.
They have strongly hinted that American Nightmare would eventually make the jump to PC also.
If they are making good profits on a PC release, and lost money on their console effort, don't you think they would consider dropping consoles all together?
I definitely agree with you there - the video-game crash was caused by the fact there was no way to police whether games were actually up to standard. I feel that times are different now - everyone has access to share a rating and opinion about a game, and most of the app stores and online platforms will allow you to give a rating or recommendation of some kind.
I don't think that Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft need to give up 100% of their control, but I fo think they need ...
Yeah, the PC version is where I'll be sinking my time. Hopefully it looks as great as the system requirements suggest.
