I'm not defending either game. I just got my copy of GTA V and have pre-ordered WD for the PS4. However, it simply defies LOGIC to say that a game that is still 2 months away from release is better or worse than another game. It is silly. WD will sell a lot of units for sure and I am going to assume that it gets great reviews, but who the heck knows at this point? There is NO WAY you can make this statement based upon what a developer/publisher releases to the gaming media. You need ...
Ummmm... ok.... well, I guess if the *DEVELOPERS* are recommending it, I would ABSOLUTELY ignore the advice... I mean, what would R* know about the game anyway?? /s
I just don't understand some people. I guess you know better than the people who created the game. Obviously, there is an issue with installing the game disc.
Sci-Fi would be cool... but, how about some sort of alternative history game?? I love those types of stories and they are not done well for the most part.
QFT: Despite this, the Xbox One still looks to be behind the PS4 in terms of raw horsepower, with a GPU of 12 compute units, compared to 18 on the PS4. Some have argued that Microsoft may hit the ground running thanks to its excellent history of development tools for x86 platforms (both the Xbox One and PS4 use the same eight-core, 64-bit, X86 AMD processor). =Such conjecture aside, the PS4 has the more powerful hardware despite the recent tweaks.
I have to take issue with the way that some of this article is written. It is almost as if the media feels the need to seem even-handed across the board between the 2 systems, even though there are obvious differences in both power and price.
For example, from the article:
"The PS4 will not be shipping with the Play Station Eye (the response to Microsoft’s Kinect), and will therefore be approximately $100 cheaper. It will also force its users to begin...
Sony has announced over 1m PS4 pre-orders worldwide, while you are trying to stimulate demand with the FIFA bundle. Have the numbers not matched your expectations?
"I won’t give you a number, but we are very happy with the progress..."
I am certainly laughing at this gem of a response! If is obvious that PS4 has significant more pre-orders or MS would be crowing about it from the rooftops.
I agree... the quote from Marcus Nilsson of EA:
"From an EA perspective, we look at different console strategies and different platforms and what makes sense for return of investment, what makes sense from tech development and also what do people want to work on," Nilsson explained.
"In this particular case, for Rivals at least, Wii U is not one of the platforms."
Says it all... it is about profits (or at least the ability...
@2cents
The one thing about GAF is that many people on the site are tech experts, engineers, etc.
So, you may want to do yourself a favor before taking what Penello has to say at face value, because they are shredding him on the GAF thread and totally deconstructing the post that he put on there. I am not a techie, and I defer to those who have knowledge that I don't. The VAST MAJORITY on GAF are ripping this apart and explaining why Penello is wrong, m...
"Penello also believes that his team often gets "little credit" for the progress it's made on its software, and says that having "some of the smartest graphics engineers" on board for Xbox One is "overlooked when evaluating both boxes"."
If MS has "some of the smartest graphics engineers" then explain why nothing on the Xbox 360 looks as good as God of War, Uncharted, The Last of Us, etc.
One of the biggest issues right now with the Rift is motion sickness. Sony and Oculus need to deal with that issue, which could be a major obstacle to mass adoption of VR technology.
Yes, it was recently confirmed by Shu Yoshida.
@SheenuTheLegend
"so u say they should have gone with the cell n made it hard for the developers again just
For your backward compatibility option....
its great they have changed, you can expect bc with ps5 atleast now.."
Well then, how do you explain the XB1's lack of BC? I don't believe that the XB360 used the cell.
The thing to me is, why not spend $40 to get the 3DS? This should be in the $99 range.
plus, he mentioned HBO Go... you need cable and an HBO subscription to have access to HBO Go. MS is working with the existing cable boxes. Sony's game plan seems better to me in that they are attempting to be the provider, not just a pass-through.
I agree about Shuhei.... the other Sony exec that I have a lot of respect for is Jack Tretton. In my opinion, MS (and Nintendo execs) always come off as smarmy and obnoxious.
Sony said it had over 1 million pre-orders for the PS4.... VG Chartz has the pre-orders at only 600,000. Unless these are old numbers, VG Chartz is off.
One of the best experiences this gen... up there with Uncharted 2, Fallout 3 and Red Dead Redemption for me...
The first time through, had to play it on Easy (kept dying on Normal)... but, my second play through??... I just beat it in Survivor! Challenging and totally worth it! What a great game! Gonna platinum this one for sure!
You are so right... MS is once again passing out Kool-Aid and topping it off with overblown exaggerations... (and, yes, the PS4 can also use the "Power of the Cloud" ( http://gamingbolt.com/umbra... )

@PeronaCat
I find it funny how the X1 from Comcast does much of what is being touted by the XB1 and they have strikingly similar names! Oh the irony!

So, you are saying that you wouldn't take one for FREE?? Seriously, Dude? A little bit of hyperbole there?
