Do you have any idea what Michael Pachter does? Do you know what his job is? He is a BUSINESS ANALYST. The guy has 2 law degrees. He focuses on the game and electronic industries to track STOCKS and ADVISE INVESTORS about what stocks to buy. And, he is successful at that. He looks at things from a BUSINESS perspective, not from a gamer's perspective. He has inside information and knows a lot about what is going on behind closed doors. You should read the interview with him in this m...

Why is that trolling? He is stating a fact.

This article is ridiculous.

"The online experience on PlayStation 4 was simply put very poor as it launched. Sony scrambled to add features we all took for granted and while we still hold Xbox One leagues ahead in this area, online is now serviceable on PlayStation 4."

What is the author talking about? I have heard nothing of that sort from any gaming media. As a person who got the PS4 on launch day, there have been no online issue that I would ha...

The "Sony Rewards" program is another great new thing from Sony. It crosses all products from video games to televisions, to music and movies (DVDs and Blurays). Whenever you buy something (including PSN), you get points which can be used to buy Sony products.

Your post makes no sense. Just because it won't have MS or Nintendo games, it is not comparable to Netflix? Netflix carries different content than Amazon Prime which has different content than Hulu. Yes, there is cross-over content between Hulu, Netflix and Amazon (multiplats), but they all have their own exclusives as well. And like Amazon, PS Now will allow you to buy titles in addition to the subscription-based model.

Then don't buy them. This is free to play game.... i guess you expect them to not try to make their money back. Why would any company make a product with no way to make money on it? Gamers: this single most self-entitled group of whiners in the world. smh

More to the point. Microtransactions are fine, depending on how they are implemented.

@whoyouwit04

What town and what store? I'm sure that there are people reading this who would love a PS4. You would be doing everyone a favor if you have that info, as with one simple phone call to the store that you are referencing, someone can be enjoying their new PS4 system by the weekend!

@NatureOfLogic

Actually, the gaming media has been hyping this game even before we learned that it was exclusive to MS platforms (XB1, XB360 and Windows).

But, I never understood the hype on this and why it has become the "savior" of the XB1. Maybe it will be fun, but personally, I like single-player games. I just don't understand the hype over a full retail priced game that is online Multiplayer only. Of the XB1 exclusives, I don't get...

That is exactly right... the XB1 has been available at Gamestop, Target, Walmart and Amazon through the holidays, with a few days of exception right before Christmas. PS4 not available anywhere and when it is, it sells out very quickly.

Man, they don't stay for long! Yet, XB1 is available everywhere! Even the PS4 Camera has been sold out since shortly after launch!

@nukeitall

Yeah... this makes perfect sense. /s

Sony will spend $380 million to acquire Gaikai, spend money to re-brand it as Playstation Now, spend money to market the new platform, spend money to include deals with other media companies (movies, television content), and then Sony will charge so much that they won't be able to sell subscriptions to the service that the spent hundreds of millions of dollars on so that they will lose hundreds of millions o...

Why should Sony (or MS or Nintendo or Apple or any other media company) give their intellectual property away? No one complains when the movie companies charge you for "newer" versions of the same old movies. I can't tell you how many movies I've owned on VHS, DVD and the Bluray, with multiple versions of each -- Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, the Godfather, Disney classics, etc... The PS1, PS2 and PS3 eras are over and there is no obligation for Sony to allow us to use old...

Just found some really dumb Dvorak opinions of the past:

In 1984 John C. Dvorak stated the mouse as a reason the Macintosh would fail: “The Macintosh uses an experimental pointing device called a ‘mouse’. There is no evidence that people want to use these things.” [San Francisco Examiner on February 19th, 1984]

In his 2007 article for Marketwatch regarding the iPhone, Dvorak wrote "If [Apple's] smart, it will call the iPhone a 'reference design&#...

John C. Dvorak is a curmudgeon and has been writing about technology since the 1980s, including PC Magazine, Info World, worked on CBS's Market Watch, as well as some other mags that I can't remember... he is also a mainstay on Twit TV with Leo Laporte... And Dvorak has gotten more miserable and contrarian as time has gone on. I listen to Twit almost every week and I constantly find myself cringing whenever he opens his mouth.

That beings said, this is a TERRIBLE art...

Lol.. yeah "shocking" that someone would write an article about something so obvious... I think that the XB1 has been benefiting from the lack of PS4 availability. Not to say that the XB1 wouldn't be selling well regardless, but the "hard to find" PS4 issue is playing a role, especially when parents are looking to buy their kids a gift.
