Jade Empire was phenomenal at the time! I don't think enough people played it.

I don't remember that demo but I do remember the sink to face though. I wouldn't mind more open environments but I do want solid stealth though.
Yet it went on to sell more than the competition and also ushered in amazing new SP IP's like the Uncharted series, the Infamous series, the Resistance series, Demon Souls(which led to s new sub genre) and TLOU to name a few.

Yeah there is some heaviness to its story. I love Decon and Bill's relationship. At first it did seem like a stereotype but their relationship is pretty layered.

@sprinterboy yes the HDR is incredibly done! The darker areas really look great because you can still see so much detail in the characters and objects. It's just all beautiful to look at.
I think it's the context that matters because COD is basically a meme at this point and DG is a new IP that's gotten a ton of hate that just doesn't match up with those who are playing it. Where are you at in the game at the moment?
If you enjoy action/adventure/horror games, you'll enjoy DG. In fact once you get into it you'll be blown away by just how good it is compared to all the hate it's gotten.

Back in the 90's I loved reading reviews and the reviewers that had similar tastes as me almost felt like friends to my younger self.
There was no company bias or agendas, just guys and gals playing games and letting you know if they were well made and fun.

I've never seen an open world with this level of detail. It even beats HZD because there's still so much of "US" left in this world because it's only been a few years vs hundreds. Each building is loaded with items and objects that just show you that they were once inhabited by people.
I'm having the best time with this game! The sheer terror that I feel at times is palpable and it's not just shock horror or jump scares but this sense of dread. I love it and Ive never experienced these feelings in an open world game before.

Krib,I've been putting hours and hours in each day and I've seen one, ONE glitch. A dude in a camp was walking around with no body. That's it.
In AC Origins I saw a ship in a body of water that I had to kill a man that was on said ship and it began spinning and shot up into the air , to finally come down stuck upside down in the earth. I had to reset the mission.
There's no more glitches in DG than in AC, Far Cry or even Wild Hunt or HZD. ...
