Gotcha. It's just kind of an apples and oranges scenario when comparing the resolution of console games (large screen) to portable (lower res but condensed).
The condensed nature of the smaller portable screen can compensate for the resolution. You'd probably never guess the resolution just my looking at the Vita (vibrant and impressive) - and the OLED is dead sexy.
