Yeah, that war will rage on.
Fanboys can't help but impose their opinion as fact. Objectivity is totally lost on them.
Quite true.
You can't trot out a product, hype it as the second coming, and then fail to deliver killer games or proof it is even essential. But that is exactly what Microsoft did last gen and again at the present.
I would propose that Nintendo has delivered more gaming value with the Wii U gamepad than Kinect ever has (key word: gaming).
@ 3-4-5
Pikmin 3 for me as well. I've been waiting for a deal on it and this is an absolute steal!
For sure.
Did you see this promo for a free game when you register Mario Kart 8 on Club Nintendo?

Looks like it's good for Pikmin 3, NSMBU, Wind Waker HD, or Wii Party U.
Ryse: Son of PowerPoint?
I kid, I kid.
Though if we're talking about the most graphically impressive games, we shouldn't have to concede substandard framerates or dulled down resolution - both of which apply to Ryse.
Artistically Ryse gets a lot right, and the character models are quite good. It's a nice looking game.
But compared to the polished, pristine, and smooth visuals of Killzone and Infamous, Ryse just d...
Props and on the same page here. It's exciting to see them explore and discover something totally new. Actually pretty good bonding time, too.
My daughters are my favorite LittleBigPlanet props (and they crack up every time they see a picture of themselves in a level).
@ George
"...te PS4 is already selling well without emphasis on games."
Irony at its best.
Which manufacturer designed a console around TV (with gaming as an afterthought)?
Take your time. I'll gladly wait while you wrestle with that.
Ryse? That's far from a fact.
Ryse looks ok and the character models are decent. But the resolution isn't impressive and the framerate dips can make Ryse look like slideshow at times. Or maybe that's a feature...
Crytek: "We designed Ryse to slow down so you can appreciate the higher quality pixels." Heh, heh.
Infamous and Killzone are in a different league visually - and they perform smoothly.
Time...
You could get the base game for $20 if you're interested.
The $40 tag is for the game + season pass.
Not sure if that's helpful...
Don't forget the "higher quality pixels" comment that's become popular among Xbone fanatics.
Heh, heh.
Yup, Steam has an offline mode.
I don't think it's permanent (eventually you have to sign in - matter of days I believe). But I thought valve was working on a permanent/long-term offline option too.
@ Mystogan
And you're any better how exactly? (your comment adds nothing to the conversation - just flammunition)
True.
There's nothing in the world worth suffering Bieber for (and you wouldn't even get a trophy/achievement - tragic)
Same here.
Scored a hardly used Wii U off ebay for $180 with a pair of games (Arkum Asylum and Scribblenauts).
Haven't regretted that purchase at all!
@ IItapalanyymi
You hit on a key point. The Wii U currently appeals to Nintendo loyalists. So if you love Nintendo IPs, there is a lot to like about the Wii U.
But at this point, I'm not really sure what game(s) will make the Wii U a "must have" to a broader audience. Nintendo might be kicking themselves for their Wii U design choices and marketing for years to come (from a business perspective).
That said, it's still a v...
Totally agree, RPG.
I've been loving the Wii U Super Mario games and the new Donkey Kong. Worth buying the system for those alone, imho. (toss Pikmin 3 and The Wonderful 101 in there, too)
Looking ahead:
- Bayonetta 2 looks ridiculous (good kind)
- Very eager to hear more about X
- Next iterations of Mario Kart, Zelda, and Metroid should be sweet
Good system, but struggling to find an audience. And the competiti...
Indeed.
Carmack (and the OR crew) working alongside Valve could = a symbiotic relationship on all fronts.
Even if Carmack doesn't want to touch game development again directly, he could give Valve's hardware efforts a huge lift. (VR in particular)
@ Curtis
Well said. Agreed on all counts.
I'm ambivalent about the Xb1 itself. And I do wish Xbox fans the best experience they can have.
BUT I despise how Microsoft is approaching the core gamer (read: expendable).
Had a great time with my 360 (RRoD and all) but MS lost me this gen.
Heh, heh.
I remember the same. Loved it on the SNES first (picked it up day 1) but gravitated to the Genesis version later for the reasons you outlined. (didn't mind the sound too much as my buddies and I usually drowned that out with our smack talk)
Great game on any system, but the control scheme was a HUGE difference imho.
Cheers!
And here's George ladies & gents.
