"when Carmack was 14"
Right, which was 26 years ago. Everyone does stupid things when they are young. Some cases are worse than others, but at the end of the day going from that to one of the leading figures of your chosen industry is clearly a sign of mental strength.
In any case, your original post claimed that he had "no skill" in programming. Maybe it's you with the mental defect.
I think it will still sell pretty well. Medal of Honor got similar reviews and it sold well. I think they've marketed it well enough.
@gravemaker
In this tough economic climate there is more pressure for developers to create games that are multi-million sellers or else they are in danger of losing their jobs... and you think that's funny? I bet you wouldn't be laughing if you lost your job, but then again you sound too immature to have one.
It's a flaw considering you can buy the same game on a different console which looks and runs exactly the same without needing to install it. Yes you have to install PC games, but they always perform better visually compared to the console versions.
Many PS3 games need mandatory installs because Blu ray discs naturally take longer to scan because of their size compared to DVDs. However, these mandatory installs are to make them run at the same speed of their 360 counterparts, so not all 360s having Hard drives has nothing to do with it.
I can't treat you seriously with comments like that. He is one of, if not the most talented coder in the industry.
It doesn't even take a 5 year old to know that any comments on this website that slate Sony or PlayStation in the slightest are met with hoards of disagrees. I couldn't care less if I get disagrees since half the people on this website are morons anyway. Nice attempt at trying to hind behind that fact.
Says the guy with an avatar pissing on the word Obama. Very mature.
In other words, be more like Xbox Live.
Call me a troll if you wish, but not having basic features like universal invites, name change, automatic trophy sync (seriously?!) etc. just shows that Xbox Live is still way ahead in the online space.
Not the most original slogan, but anything is better than "It only does everything". Seriously a 5 year old kid could do better than that.
What's the point? If there are no Xbox mascots appropriate for the game, don't put them in for the sake of it. We don't want another Soul Calibur 4 on our hands.
I'm glad that reviewers are starting to take campaigns in FPS games more seriously. They should be able to stand on their own two feet and not be carried by their multiplayer component. Believe it or not, not everyone likes multiplayer.
Yes I did - they started taking people's money this morning but then interrupted the process, causing their orders to be cancelled. Don't know why they couldn't have just retained their orders like HMV have done - maybe you didn't read that bit.
Don't really see the need to cancel everyone's pre-order. Just tell everyone that the game has been delayed indefinitely due to recent events.
Black Mesa is a remake of Half-life with the Source engine, that's good enough for me.
Got it on my Lovefilm list, if the multiplayer is good then I will buy it.
This should have been free like 1 vs 100.
Sounds like it's going to help track down hackers as well, which can only be a good thing for the rest of us.
"Host advantage. Laggy server. No hitmarkers. Red bar."
It's like this guy has played COD and nothing else, and all those issues are mainly the fault of COD, not XBL.
Kane & Lynch was one of those games that I really wanted to be good, but just wasn't. I guess they should just stick to what they are good at, which is Hitman.
