They didn't even say people needed to switch to Live, they are just expecting an increase in traffic due to their free weekend coupled with PSN being down. Top that with the Gears 3 beta, the PSN outage couldn't have come at a better time for Microsoft.
When Xbox Live went down during Xmas 07 they gave everyone a free XBLA game.
People who want to try something different.
I don't think it makes a significant difference either way.
The beta was supposed to come out last summer according to my Splinter Cell Conviction box.
I don't think that PSN is as important to the PS3 as Xbox Live is to the 360. Not a criticism of either console, just an observation.
I got mine today but I ordered off Gameplay.
Bad timing considering the games that are out this week.
Let's face it, it could be anyone attacking PSN. You think Anonymous are the only group of people that they pissed off?
@ pixelpusher
Dance Central and Kinect Sports have sold over 1 million units. Name a Move-exclusive title that has done even half that.
Because it had nothing to do with the film, it was a completely separate story while remaining in the Riddick universe. Plus it was just an all-round well made game.
The thing is, MAG is a completely different game to Battlefield 3, which is a completely different game to Resistance 2. Frontlines for the 360 had 50 players, so it's not a question of "this game can do it so why can't this game?"
Also, since when did more players = better online experience? If that were the case, MAG would be the king of the FPS genre and Halo would've been forgotten instantly.
PSN seems to be down for maintenance every few weeks, what gives?
You don't even know what it is yet, why get excited just because it's an exclusive?
This is better for journalists because they have the 3 actual days of E3 to fulfill appointments with developers/publishers without having to miss any of the big 3 press conferences.
Just like PlayOnline for FFXI on the 360, you can't use it for anything other than playing FFXI.
What a waste of money for the people that bought it.
The game has been getting 90+ scores across the board.
He's obviously a talented guy but he needs a reality check. GT5 should've been released in 2008.
Don't forget Rage.
