And critic scores do not matter when the games do not sell hardware or units. Publishers and developers cannot run their businesses just from critic reviews. They need sales and money.
@wonderfulmonkeyman
Two completely different scenarios. The sales did not matter with the Wii because it was a fad. The people who were buying it were not gamers and the consoles were not being bought for games. They were being bought for jumping and flailing in front of your s...
Come on man. 3DS is a dedicated handheld and even smartphones have better graphics than that. Those are barely PS2 level graphics in 2015. They are not natural. The game really would have benefited from more powerful hardware.
Oh yeah! The hate is not sickening but the defense is sickening. :-/ You haters are burning up inside on how the opinions have changed. You people were having so much fun looking forward to having a Sony exclusive flop but now it is ruined with the positive news and defense, right? You are some really sick people. Go have some poisonous shrooms and leave us in peace please.
15/20 is not bad given the amount of hate this game has been getting since it was revealed and especially in the past several months. A 7.5/10 means that it is a good game but with some problems and can be enjoyed by gamers. Those kinks can be improved upon in the future sequels if there are any. It does not means that it is a horrible game that nobody should play like what some haters will make it out to be. What is the point of a 10 point scale if every game needs to be a 9 or 10. In fact m...
Oh come on! On one had you say that the PS fans are hyping it up while on other you say they are unhappy with it. Which one is true? It is Xbox fanboys that always linger in the Order articles and try to bring down the game and dampen the enthusiasm. They want to prove it so bad that it is a bad game and that it is not worth buying. Why? What is their problem? Why do they care?
So why are the Order 1886 articles filled with Xbox fanboys if it isnt those fanboys hating on it? Why every false or inaccurate piece of information is treated as a gospel and used for criticism immediately such as the 3 hour game length rumor? The Order 1886 is getting unprecedented hate from media while many underwhelming, broken and bad games get the hype from the media including Watchdog, AC: Unity, Titanfall and Evolve. What does that says about what is going on? Even a blind man can se...
I quit near the time of DLC release too. It was just too expensive for the amount of content it offered. After that I started playing FFXIV and realized what a true MMO actually looks like and plays like. The size of the world is immense and varied, there are numerous dungeons to explore with varying difficulty modes, superbosses to kill, numerous raids, unique gear etc. I realized how much of a pale imitation Destiny was.
@moldybread
This not called entitlement; it is called not-bending-over-gladly. Entitlement basically means stepping out of your bounds and demanding something that you do not have the right to. In the business world the customer is always right and the customer has full right to demand what he wants from a seller. Stop being such an apologist and bending over for corporations. Who is telling them to spend $100 million on developing a game? AAA games do not need that kind of m...
@Two_Face
No need to feel sorry for me. I probably have been playing games before you were born and know a lot more about them. Feel sorry for yourself for being born in this era and having the tastes that you do. Single player games may still exist but they often have a tacked on multiplayer. we constantly get opinion and articles claiming the death of single player campaign. We are getting games that have a tacked on single player or even lack a single player and have to be...
Order 1886 will decide the fate of PS4??? You make it sound like the PS4 needs a savior. The fate of PS4 has already been sealed... as the winner of the 8th generation.
NO! We do not need mulitplayer in every game! Mulitplayer is the reason gaming has devolved from an art form to just shooting, killing and blowing everything. Where are the epic stories, interesting characters, iconic heroes, beautiful soundtracks and enchanting worlds??? Why people find mindless and aimless violence so fun but unique single player experiences so dull? It is truly sad to see the state of gaming today for a pre-mulitplayershooter era gamer.
@GreetingsfromCanada
You forget that the market size was a lot smaller back then too. Gaming was a niche and consisted of only children and geeks. During the 90s, selling 20 million units of a game was unimaginable for a gaming company. Today several franchises achieve that figure regularly. Companies like Activision became billion dollar companies. Even if the prices have come down when adjusted for inflation, the sales numbers have increased massively. As a result, gaming c...
You need to look beyond just inflation. Technology was much more expensive back then. Every piece of technology was more expensive in the 90s than it is today. It does not means they have to be the same price today or be even more expensive because of inflation. Things become cheaper as costs come down, market size increases and the then cutting-edge manufacturing processes become today's norm. Developers need to control their costs if they want to improve their profitability instead of r...
I cant believe people defend dlc milking in the name of keeping prices down. Games used to offer a lot more unlockable content before dlc came. If profitability is the issue then why cant developers keep the costs of production down for games instead of spending upward of $50 million on each AAA title; most of which is spent on marketing instead of making a better game. The customer is not obligated to ensure the profitability of the seller by buying at hefty prices. It is the seller's re...

@Krakin
They may not be literally forcing us with a gun to our head but they are forcing us indirectly by providing a half-baked game with barely any content. They are essentially saying that if you want the full game then you gotta pay more. There is not end to this practice and the excuse will always be that nobody is forcing you. The truth is that they ARE forcing us by cutting content that can be on the disc on release.
More than $100 of DLC on the first day of release and you are saying people are overreacting?? DLC was introduced as a way to extend the life of a game and now it has just become a way to rip off customers and squeeze more money out of them than the full price of the game itself. If the content is ready and available on release day then how do they justify it not being on the disc for the full price of the game!? That is pure greed and a malpractice. DLC is getting out of hand and we have to ...
These are the kind of games that have been getting rave reviews this generation. The reviewers just never mention any of the major problems and flaws with the high profile games such as micro transactions, bugs, poor performance and little content. On the other hand, games like Order 1886 are bashed to no end for subjective/perceived issues such as short length, black borders and not being innovative enough. Gaming media has become too commercialized and corrupted. If selling your integrity m...
@Higgins78
And how does the Wii U compare to a PC? Why stop at just comparing PS4 and Xbox One. Nintendo games use art and colors to hide their technical inadequacies. Ask them to make a realistic looking game and we will see how "ahead of its time" it is. Bayonetta 2 looked like crap when compared to modern games. Wii U is behind the times and overpriced, fact. 2 GB RAM, 32GB flash storage, no voice chat in multiplayer games, poor CPU and GPU?? Is that your definit...
Sour grapes! You do not want what you cannot have. Go play Tetris if you do not want graphics. You should have just stuck with NES from 80s; why even bother buying a Wii U? Isnt every next console just prettier graphics over the last one?
