You are very objective with your comments. N4G is a Sony fanboy haven, in this world Sony has the number 1 selling console, Vita is the greatest handheld ever, and gaming means nothing outside of Sonydom.
Meanwhile, in the real world, Sony is losing billions each quarter and is really struggling to survive. I've no affinity to any Company, as they are all competing for cash I don't have lol. Nintendo holds a place special simply because they are the OG's on cons...

Who the hell gives a damn about specs? Nintendo has NEVER released specs for any of their consoles. Nintendo has done the same thing for DS,Wii,3DS that it is planning for Wii U it seems.

Metroid game on the Wii U would be amazing. I'd actually love a Super Metroid sequel..let me rephrase, a 'worthy' Super Metroid sequel on the Wii U. But a new prime game is ALWAYS welcome. Especially with Retro at the helm.
As to what direction the other console makers will take. I'm even curious as to what direction Nintendo wishes to take the Wii U.
Will all three attempt to have Wii U gamepad like controllers? What will those fanbases think if they do? Will the gamepad then cease to be considered a gimmick if Sony/m$ adopt the same damn controller? I always enjoy the hypocrisy on this site.
So E3 next year will be chock full of it I'm sure.
Not seen anything that screams fresh and everything that screams recycled with this game. Which is unfortunate. I long for the days when 2D Mario games were given the royal treatment.
There is no excuse why one could argue a Galaxy game looks better graphically than this game other than effort and passion from the devs involved. Its sad really.
I hope this game surprises me and ends up being something special, a worthy sequel to Mario 3/World..But I'...

Sure they can compete. We will see if they do though. The one thing I'm curious about is the 'how?' Will they attempt to copy the Wii U's gamepad? Will they try to out do the Wii U by a large margin spec wise? Is that even a wise move? Are either moves wise?
You can already see the half assed attempts by M$/Sony with smartglass and Vita integration, but would that really be enough?
And will the fans of Sony/M$ really get on board if they ...

But it was probably when it sold the most it sold in a year which was what 13-15m or so? It won't sell that much this year or any year again. It ain't doom and gloom, its reality..Try it some time.
Neither. I don't know enough about the direction Nintendo wants to take this machine. I've other interests right now that require time, and video games are like a luxury, not a neccessity to me at this point in my life.
Also, the price and the quality of the software isn't known yet, as well as alot of still unknowns and unanswered questions about this system. And no I don't give a sh*t about the specs.

Freakazoid is right, The NES was a family friendly console, hence the name Famicom. There was no marketing distinction of 'casual/hardcore' They were all just games. Some targeted veterans others novices. Don't get suckered into viral marketing of the industry. Metroid was said to be a game for the 'elite gamer.'
Additionally, many games back then were probably more immersive than anything else you've listed. And adults definitely played games. Adult...

If you read between the lines though, look at finances of the companies, you can begin to see past the PR. Sony wants to bide as much of its time as possible, due to them being in so much red, so of course they would say something like this.

Some of these comments are mental. Vitas market performance is awful. I know you are fans of Sony but be honest about things. This has nothing to do with 3ds or smartphones. But rather sony's handling of this product.
