Could part of the thinking on Sony's part be a pre-emptive strike?
by that i mean, a future update for some reason needs to open the system up further which would leave it wide open to hacks, etc, but by removing the otherOS part now it'll maintain its integrity.
And if removing this feature would mean the Sony tech blokes would need to worry less about looking over there shoulder worried about exploits could it mean more featured updates coming sooner ?...

I read he was against the RE4 port because he felt people (PS2 owners especially) might've bought a Gamecube especially for it, thinking it wasn't going to stay exclusively on it - rather than any grievance with the PS2...
and, again i might be wrong, i don't think he was massively involved with Bayonetta (awesome game though it is... even on PS3)
So, aren't you allowed to play this game if you haven't played the first two ?
Sorry, but it sounds a bit poor if a game as big as this can't be expected to stand up on its own merits.
If it's as good as so many people here claim, then an in-depth knowledge of the back story shouldn't be required.
It's exactly the same gameplay as the first 2 games with better graphics.
Sports games manage to come out every single year and get tweaks here and there, for better or worse, but at least they try and move the genre on.
It isn't even GotY so far ... (and we're barely at the end of March)

The only place it says 'worldwide' is in the blurb on this site.
It's not mentioned at CVG or in the EDGE mag which contains the full interview.
Though, if Greenberg knew he was talking to a UK mag, why use US stats?
it should be pointed out that neither in the CVG article or the short Edge interview does Greenberg use the word 'worldwide'...
but, relatively, not as many people played the first ones outside the US - neither 1 or 2 broke a million. it just didn't seem to click over here (UK).
I, personally, bought 1 and didn't bother with 2 (PS3 had just come out), and was on the fence about 3 till fairly recently (the demo looked good but didn't really grab me).
So, while it might always have been in the minds of US folks, it probably needed a bit of hype and a few excellent reviews to get it onto the more casual gamer...
All Sony have said (through the blogs and tweets) is that there is an unknown problem and they're doing there best to sort it.
Things like this are attempts by poor websites to try and create stories out of nothing.
The item featured in the link that this story is based on is about a year old and naff all to do with the current issue.

Page 26 #8 in 'the big 10' is a page entitled 'Back in Black?', Ex- Criterion mastermind fronts new Codies shooter.
It goes on to say the un-announced fps development is being headed by the senior designer from the Criterion classic, Stuart Black.
Hopefully, even with the necessary name change, it'll still retain the pure fun the first was...

I assume this means some of the games on there need to have some slight alterations before they'll work on PS3 - meaning you can re-download all you like, but it'll make no difference until the update goes live next week.
For a start the articles actual headline is;

and referring to some study. The full article seems to take a fairly balanced approach, and doesn't try and insinuate that games are the route of all evil.
Even those who did the study aren't suggesting the games are bad, as this quote suggests;

this other store decides to start selling THIS game early - not just any game, but by far the biggest release of the year that is also making mainstream news!
And not just to a few, known, regulars but to anybody. And people are surprised the competition aren't happy?
At least it is in the UK (£11.99). It turned up yesterday.

First said VS was coming on the 12th, second was pretty much exactly the same except it was changed to coming soon..

The digital versions come out when they come out, it might be roughly the same time as the UMD, it might be 6 months later (e.g. Dissidia : FF), or it might not be at all.
