Gaming is not and should not be this confusing - seriously WTF. Whenever somebody speaks to MS about the used/sharing/renting games one gets a different answer. Same goes with requiring online connection for single player game types.
The MS campus is a mess today - people are contradicting one another.
Some MS ppl claim you do not always have to be connected to the internet to play games, others say you have to connect at least once in a 24hr period - which is it and what would happen if your internet goes down for more than 24hrs?
They have been real shifty and contradictory in terms of the used, borrowed, rented gaming. They say they understand that aspect of gaming but will charge som...
Here is why actual gamers are upset. It's not that the system apparently is a little less powerful than the PS4, or that approximately 3gb of Ram are taken from gaming to run the multiple operating sources, it is because MS is trying to please everyone and appeal to everyone and when you do that, you have issues like yesterday.
Fee for used gaming - seriously, anti-consumer. Now I understand Sony has not quite addressed this and believe they said it will be left to the ...
Maybe it is just me, but does anyone else think companies like Activision and EA are going to get extremely pssed when they realize MS is making money off their used games?
It is a real crime to be anti-consumer and charge people to play a borrowed game or used game they bought. I am not sure what type of impact this will have on the used gaming market, but I can only assume places like Gamestop will be giving even less for trade-ins simply because of the charges MS will be ...
As a supporter of both PS and MS, a fee for used games is highly anti-consumer. I don't know pricing or if it is per game, but charging even a penny is not something I can support any longer. Sorry MS, once PS4 comes out, that is the only system I will have - mainly because of that fact
Did anyone read this
To add insult to injury Microsoft has confirmed that to play pre-owned games players will need to pay a fee to Microsoft. A ballsy move, but that hits players write in the wallet.
If that is the case, it is game over. A lot of gamers buy, sell, trade games to help ease the cost of gaming - This article was the first I heard of this, but for me, this is a console decision maker if true
Lukewarm after that presentation. I understand the simple design based off the fact this is a hybrid gaming, cable, dvr box and 3 operating systems. Yes, I can agree the skype, seemless control of gaming, television, movies, and music are great and being able to do multiple at one time are nice features to have, but I want games games and more games.
Show could have been much better - instead of doing each demonstration twice, do it once - that probably would have saved 1...
Like I thought - similar to this generation in terms of power. PS3 has more overall brute power than the 360 - and the PS4 will have more overall brute power than the XB1. Like this generation, the only major differences we will see in terms of graphics will be the first party stuff - multiplat will be the same on both.
Off topic - I hate where these consoles are going - Sony focused a lot on the sharing stuff and MS took it a step further with the TV. Do not get me wron...
Honestly, that would be great for gaming because of the competition. However, I honestly feel it will be similar to this generation, meaning the PS4 will be more powerful than the nextbox - like how the PS3 is more powerful than the 360 overall. They will be comparable, but I believe the PS4 will be the brute powerhouse winner. I could be wrong.
Hopefully competition will foster an environment that MS tries to compete with next generation. As an owner of both, I don't mind paying and understand those that do and don't, but it is clear, without prejudice, that PS+ offers much more value for the dollar. Yes, MS does offer a few games from time to time for free, but the quality and quantity do not match what PS gives away.
Just save up, wait about 6 months and pick up a next gen console.
If you desperately need to pick between the 360 and PS3, I think 2pac summed it up best
The first half of this console generation, I would have said 360, however, based off the second half I would go with the PS3 at this point
Agreed, any system that blocks used games I will not buy as well. To me, this would be the biggest mistake that any console could make, it will completely alienate a good portion of gamers
I dont mind paying a yearly subscription price to either MS or PS, I only think for the next gen, MS should offer more value and be in line with PS+
Argument could be made for any of the 3 systems
Wii - has the most console sales
Xbox360 - great north american support and a much stronger position this generation when compared to last generation
PS3 - Best first party collection, solid sales especially considering the late start, highest price point - it has really closed strong the last 2 or so years
So essentially, they all have some points they could use as a success bu...
Wow - what a disappointing E3 in general for GAMES
MS - showed the same old stuff (Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable, COD) - overall C (and that is only thanks to Halo which does look pretty good)
Sony - where were the games - they showed a total number of games that was less than MS - overall B- (yes they only showed 7 or so games, but Last of Us looked incredible and they did show a few new IPs
Nintendo - had the chance to steal the show - did not ...
Makes sense. MS needs a large, killer launch title for the next console - 343 can not do another Halo, so the plan
have People can Fly develop Judgement (essentially, ODST for Gears) and have EPIC work on the true sequel to Gears
However, its getting old - Halo and Gears every year has to stop. Why not have Rare create a new perfect dark from the ground up and let Gears have a year break?
Overall C - same show as the previous 2 years
Highlights - Halo looks very good, Gears should be solid but not much was shown. Splinter Cell and Tomb Raider looked good
Low Point - USHER, wrecketeer kinect game
Potential - Smart Glass - could be something interesting
Same old formula - Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable, 3rd party games with timed DLC
Listen, I am as fair as possible, but E3 should be about what sets...
Like many, I will have to hold off until E3 before making a decision. 350 wouldn't be that big of a deal, but it will depend on final specs (how they stack up to PS3/360) and what exactly comes bundled with the system.
While I have highly enjoyed a majority of Mario titles, it is becoming overkill. However, I think they had no choice because their last couple home consoles have had poor game sales for third party titles and limited support.
While that may not necessarily get me back on their boat as a XB1 early adopter, it does help. Right now I am 75/25 in favor of the PS4, if they fix this, it will get it down to 60/40 in favor of the PS4.
