It is the second time this week. MS sure have serious issues which will be sorted as soon as possible.
Hopefully, no more discussions on which network is better/ worse, as both have problems (in fact there is no perfect network).
From the article: "[...] building a system that was familiar to game developers and yet had plenty of potential for maximum performance over a long lifetime.”
PS4 hasn't shown its full potential yet and we still have to wait to see how powerful it really is.
This is somehow expected seeing the PS3 games, BUT
the fact that NOW we have beautiful games that run at 1080p/30fps (others even 60 fps), hearing this statement makes to wonder what the...
I'm upset with this decision. Why taking the Youtube app? How much could cost to keep it updated?
Something has to be done in order to stop Sony taking such a bad decision.
@WilDRangeRfc
@Kavorklestein
Just to reply to your statements.
Please search on google on MS's lies and you will find:
- MS did not initially accepted X360's issue with RROD;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
- Kinect is integral part of X1 and it will never be ditched

Just to be fair and clear, PS$ pushes 44% more pixels than X1 (and not 30% as you said).
1600 x 900 = 1,440,000 pixels.
1920 x 1080 = 2,073,000 pixels.
A difference of 633,000 pixels.
633,000/ 1,440,000 = 44%
So, even if MS upgrade its API, the same resolution/ graphics difference between PS4 and X1.
So Sony upgrade Ps4's API too. Who could have thought/ guest...
This is why I like Sony, no talk and no hype, but just pure facts.
Just to release DX12 as this thing monopolized the entire discussions.
I'm hopping to release it a soon as possible because this thing becomes annoying now.
Let's all agree with what Phil said in numerous times:
It will help X1 during the optimization process but will not bring big changes as the CPU is capped at the theoretical power of the CPU (a modest power of 112 GFLOPS).
Can we return to gaming discussions now...
The sooner is released, sooner we will have peace.
This DX12 thing is becoming annoying as 500 articles have been released in the past week.
In addition all the Xbox fanboys misinterpret Phil's words. He said that DX12 is already implemented in X1 and thus it will not bring big changes to X1.
To release it just to return to the gaming discussions.
This is the same guy that last year said that DX12 will double the performance of X1.
http://xboxonedaily.com/201...
However last week Phil Spencer said that the maximum gain from DX12 could be 50% in the case of PC gaining. This means that X1 will gain much less than 50%.
So for me, Wardell just desperately seeks attention.
@ Bigpappy
Well, when all what we hear is that X1 will have a boost in performance, we have to talk of power because performance is in a direct relationship with the power of the X1.
So, the CPU theoretical power gives us the limit of what X1 can achieve.
The theoretical power of 112 GFLOPS of X1's CPU is computed using ALL the eight cores of the console!
In conclusion, DX12 is just a software that helps X1 to achieve its...
We are listening to a guy that less than a year ago said that DX12 will double (100% more) the power of the X1!
http://n4g.com/news/1487593...
We all know now that DX12 will provide - IN THE MOST OPTIMISTIC SCENARIO - a maximum of 50% gain in performance for PC GAMING. So X1 will gain much less than 50%.
People, TheRedDragon is the biggest X...
DX12 may increase the performance of X1 CPU, BUT will not increase its power.
However, even if DX12 achieves the CPU theoretical power, the CPU is so weak that it's irrelevant.
Please look at these numbers:
CPU:
- PS4 102.4 GFLOPS
- X1 112 GFLOPS
GPU:
- PS4 1.84 TFLOPS (which means 1,840 GFLOPS)
- X1 1.31 TFLOPS (which means (1,310 GFLOPS)
The above numbers are theoretical ...
@lenrulesdaworld
Could you please provide the source in which Phil stated that X1 will have better graphics and fps?
I don't remember Phil saying that...
Lol
Wait! Are you MisterX? Because you sure sound like him...
Phil's answer is in relation to Windows 10 event and more specifically with PC games.
With respect to X1 Phil already said that DX12 will not bring massive changes to X1 games.
Can you tell us the numbers we should take into account?
MS haven't released an exact number of the units sold to customers nor the shipped ones (sometime ago it was a rather vague statement that are closing to 10 mil shipped).
Under the circumstances, GriblleGrunger's are fair and in my opinion correct.
Sony stated at the beginning of the year 18.5 mil sold to customers. This means that the shipped number is higher, maybe 19 mil (or even higher).
Giving AMD statement (that less than 30 mil were shipped,) results that MS shipped around 10.5 mil. This is the more accurate number taking into account that MS did not reach 10 mil consoles sold to customers.
@Spid3r6
The weaknesses that you are mentioning are found also in the X1 version of the games.
As you said, such weaknesses are due to the fact that the games are CPU bound AND the CPUs (in both consoles) are weak.
Both consoles are built for GPGPU, namely the CPU task to be taken by the GPU. Why would both MS and Sony put a much more powerful GPU in the consoles (the PD4 GPU is 16 times more powerful).

Correct. According to Phil Spencer the X1 will not equal the performance gain achieved by the PC with DX12.
Having in mind that in the MOST optimistic case a PC will have a 50% gain in CPU power, the average performance will be at the level of 20-30%. And this is in the case of PC.
In this case the X1 will not see major improvements.
Good score, especially since is free with PS+. PS+ is a very good value.
