I agree with you! If it was such a changer MS would have implemented already. Why not implement DX12 in the X1 and accept the risk of loosing market share.
We should not forget that in the 1 year period when we have been talking on DX12, for sure MS implemented (at least partially) DX12.
What is MS waiting for with respect to the X1? I understand the implementation of DX12 on PC is depending om the release of Windows 10. But what is the excuse with X1?
Why is MS accepting such performance difference between the 2 consoles. If DX12 can eliminate the gap, why not use it for X1 (presumably not implemented in X1).
My guess is that DX12 cannot bring big changes for X1, as otherwise it would have been implemented in X1. Other guess is that DX12 is ...
No trollimg here, but just a legit and SINCERE question.
MS amd Xbox fans have been talking for more than a year about how DX12 will improve performance and resolution for Xbox 1 (almost 2 articles per day on n4g, within which was Brad Wardell telling us on doubling the performance).
We are now 1.5 years after the release of the console and still the same performance and resolution difference between PS4 and X1 (did you know that MKX is 900p on X1?).
I hope that what Geoff said remains at the level of opinion.
Changing the console's GPU in the middle of the generation is not only insane but is also a lack of respect towards consumers, especially to those who bought your conxpsole in the first place.
Sorry, but the PS4 uses 3 times less electricity in rest mode than X1 in stand by mode. This is due to the ARM secondary chip that PS4 has.
Thus, in rest mode only the ARM chip is working, as compared with X1 that apart of the Jaguar chip that is working, there are also the fans from the console and SPU that are spinning.
So, the PS4 consumes very little electricy in rest mode (less than 5 W), during which it checks for updates, does the suspend/resume, check...
You are right. More and more developers are patching the AF, without having a hit on performance. Two weeks ago also Dying Light received a similiar patch for PS4, but also included better LOD and improved lighting, without any hit on performance.
Also, PS4 version of GTAV received a patch further to which no frame drops in traffic ( http://www.eurogamer.net/...
I agree with you.
One of the reasons that everybody forgets is the ARM secondary chip. This chip is doing an lot of background work, freeing thus precious resources for the CPU.
Not only that, but it also dealing with some PS4 tasks when console is in the rest mode (stand by mode), such as suspend/ resume, remote play, updates checks etc.
As a low power consumption chip, this makes the PS4 staying in rest mode without using the fans and thus ...
This happened to me too.
But I'm sure that a FW will be released on this aspect.
Look how good the 2.5 update is. The best feature in the 2.5 update is the sufspend/ resume. I like the fact that this feature is taken by the ARM secondary chip and hence the PS4 is not making any noise in rest mode (stand by). I have a friend that has a X1 and does not use the suspend/resume feature as the X1 still makes a noise from the fan in stand by mode.
Such a fun game!
Not a day goes by without playing DriveClub. I start by playing 1-2 races, but it's so addicting that I finish after 1 hour.
Thinking about its pros points, I can say the graphics, the tracks, the cars and last but not the least, the multiplayer part.
I will wait for the price to drop at $300 or £200 and maybe I will think about buying one.
To clarify, the price should be for a bundle with at least 2 games included.
I live in Europe and the PSN is working just fine.
When I wrote in some DX12 article (I don't know which because there are 5-6 per day for the past year) that X1 already has (partly) implemented DX12 and will not bring massive change, I have received tons of negativity.
But what I'm saying, Phil Spencer himself said that DX12 will not bring a massive change. Having in mind that Spencer said that PCs will see a boost of MAXIMUM 50% (this means in the best case scenario) then X1 will see at best a 10% gain in performanc...
Dying Light devs have already patched through 1.05 update the missing AF.
It's not a frame rate issue but rather a frame rate pacing (synchronization of the game's and the refresh rate of the TV). The game runs 99% at 30, see here http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...
As with the loading times, indeed they are pretty long, but I have a 7200 HDD and are a bit better for me.
No issue with my PS4 after the update. In fact, I'm extremely pleased about the new features.
Could someone tell me when this thing will be finally released?
I just hope to release it as soon as possible as I am tired of seeing 10-15 artciles per week about DX12.
I really hope that will improve dramatic the X1 performance taking into account the money invested, the hype built and all the promises made over 2 years.
Why cannot discuss about the benefits after the thing is released? What we are gaining if we talk about it before the rel...
For PS4.... nothing.
For Sony .... Less headaches, no money liking, total focus on console games and use the money for better entertainment investments (including console sector).
I'm 110% sure that selling SOE was one of the best decisions for Sony, considering the games and the poor financial results.
Please man, don't mention these guys anymore and anywhere. This is exactly what they want, namely they make trolling videos and hope to be mentioned on sites like this.
Remember, negative advertisement it's still an advertisement.
So the best thing to do is to completely ignore them. They are making videos just to gain money.
The "selling off SOE and their chip company" are not related to the last quarter.
We will see the impact of "selling off SOE and their chip company" when they release the results for the current quarter....
Geee... Are you 12? If not, people like you make me sick. What is your gain if Sony fails or what you win if MS posts huge profits. NOTHING !!! Do not forget that a lot of people work at Sony and they need to live too.
Me too. I love this game.
I'm from Europe and last time i played there were teama of 30 player.
So yes the game is still playef.
