I will try to explain this as best I can.

When developers make games they are utilizing the time they have to create whatever best suits their stipulation, for instance some developers want high visual fidelity, another developer may want higher framerate.

Like everything on console, their are compromises and honestly neither Xbox One or PS4 are as powerful as some proclaim, they are using quite old GPU's, and using a mobile JAGUAR processor underclocke...

First party developers will get a lot more benefits out of it, but not to the extent that some people proclaim.

Software development is a process of learning, OPTIMIZATION is very much the key of ANY console.

It's why RAGE was 720p at 60FPS for instance, and like anything it takes time to learn.

Not exactly, it's basically optimization of DX API, allowing developers to effectively to spread their code over the multi-cores rather than dumping all the code onto the GPU.

Think of it like the PS3's SPU's whereby games used the Cell processor to do some of the graphics processor (post processing),

Another addition is the inclusion of tilling.

It won't make the Xbox One more powerful, however it will allow developers to...

'The best developers' is a very subjective term, Naughty Dog games tend to be very linear experiences compared to say Rockstars GTA series for example.

Different developers are better at certain things and worse at others, but from a technical perspective it's a lot more complex to have an open world than a linear path type of game.

Nothing wrong with a linear types of games, Halo, Gears, TLOU, and many others are linear and I enjoy them, as muc...

Smaller and cheaper Xbox One/PS4 i suspect.

There might of been an Xbox, Sega might of still been around if it wasn't for Sony.

But then again, it's all 'IFS' and you cannot work on the principle of what IF only what has happened.

MS pushed Sony into areas that they never even considered, Sony has no real interest with online with the PS2 it wasn't until the PS3 that they changed that for example.

MS's biggest problem with the 360 was the RROD, other than that the 360 was a great console.

Sony has a lot riding on the PS4 to do well, hence them making sure the same mistakes they made with the PS3 aren't reoccurring.

Then again MS has only been in the console industry for around 10 years, whereas Sony has been in the industry for around 20. Sony is primarily a hardware manufacture, MS has a lot to learn over a very short space of time.

I hope it isn't a prequel series, because it would be great to make it so Shepard is myth several hundred years later after the events.

At the end of the day, like any other business it's money that speaks.

Bungie and Activision must've had an agreement with Sony since Bungie is a independent developer. Bungie own the IP, Activision have publishing rights.

You can't really 'win' E3, you can have a bad E3 and a good E3 but you don't win E3.

It amuses me greatly when people say it's a war, and declare someone as a winner...

Both franchises, games, consoles, companies etc co-exist, and will for a very long time...

It's a persons 'friend', who supposedly works in EA.

Although I agree people shouldn't expect too much, however DX12 will be a benefit to the X1, heck any major firmware, SDK updates etc will also improve the bone.

I was thinking if this was actually better than having external or not, but say if MS/Sony put some sort of DRM or you fill up a HDD it's going to be annoying swapping the drive everytime it's full, or having to transfer DRM.

Thus my conclusion that having a external HDD is a better option, because you can easily just change the drive when you have filed up or have the two drives connected simultaneously.

Not for ten years, however maybe 3-5 years. It depends on how many people stick with their consoles.

You aren't going to get a lot of info from the DX12 conference, it's devs only.

It had so much potential, but like a lot of Ubisoft games, they hype it so much that it never really lives up to the hype.

Such a shame really, but after playing Watch Dogs, it's not all that good, the car handling, shooting, even the actual missions feel boring.

Think of the game as AC but set in the future, and that's pretty much WD.

Neither console is as good as my PC, your point?

You are both bitching about consoles, which aren't all that powerful, they use a jaguar CPU for christs sake, A MOBILE PROCESSOR!

The API MS is using is still based on DirectX 3d 11 subset, and it might be closer to the metal than DX11 however it's still not DX12.

Unless MS have drastically changed DX11 for X1, then there will be some advantages of utilizing DX12 for Xbox. One prime example is being able to use the multi-cores.

As it stands though, DX11 tends to use a primary CPU rather than spread data over the rest of the cores.

Think of this as how the PS3 uti...
