The X1 was supposed to be out this year, it was six months behind, even MS admitted this themselves.

Documents are written for market evaluation, hardware design, etc to give a GENERAL indication when their product will be available to the developers/publishers and like everything can change at any time.

Well DX12 is designed for a system much like NAT (Network Allocation Table) e.g.

The values are held on the GPU, and you code for the values for example 1aU uses a specific tile, then you utilize another to change colour, width etc. (AKA tiling).

If this is done correctly it would mean the Xbox One won't need utilize a lot of it's GPU to do graphics.

The reason MS paid so much for their die was because of the Die had the ESRAM, GPU and CPU all in one, which costs more to manufacture.

Sony went for an APU without the ESRAM, thus cost far less.

They have been, several MS titles have been on sale on Steam.

I think people failed to comprehend that MS did try, it didn't turn out well, but any competition is good, they however stopped with GFWL which means they can concentrate on doing better things.

Steam wasn't very good when it first came out, heck it crashed a lot and didn't connect properly most of the time, back in the early days.

Later it got better, it's still not great however it's UI could be updated, it could be much faster and I w...

Internet is getting faster, latency is getting lower.

The adoption rate, and the speeds are getting better, have been doing over the last 2 decades.

They haven't invested heavily in servers, cloud infrastructure, software etc without research, it's something they have spent years researching trends etc.

If internet doesn't progress fast enough, it will later on either that be in 5 years or 20 years.

Oh and if ...

Well better framerate, and perhaps higher resolution, which is what a lot developers are hinting at already.

Basically what I said, better optimization of their API.

DX11, wasn't very highly optimized for lower end hardware, and in some cases effected the higher end hardware.

:)

Because SDK's, didn't get into developers hands soon enough, and even saying that it takes around 1-2 years to get to grips with ANY hardware designs.

The API's weren't final, the SDK's weren't final, add the fact that developers HAVE to bring out games within a certain time frame.

Optimizations will not happen on ANY launch game, they will only occur years after the release of the hardware, firmware/API's etc will be updated. ...

Like the prior generation, Xbox 360 and PS3 had continued optimization, originally both platforms had lower resolutions than 720p later in their life cycles it got better and they both started to get native 720p.

DX12, won't make the Xbox One anymore powerful, however it will allow developers to optimize code on the hardware.

Two reasons, the adoption of 4k tv's isn't high, and the hardware itself doesn't have the power to do 4k games.

However, they may be able to do 4k films, either streaming or via blu-ray.

It can be expensive, all depends on where, when and which parts you buy.

Generally speaking though both console, and PC gaming is expensive, it's an expensive hobby.

PC's are customizable, upgradable, whereas consoles you can plug it in and go does everything for you.

DirectX is an API (Application Programming Interface), which enables developers to interact with the hardware.

Although DX11 is okay, it isn't well optimized for lower spec hardware, and in some cases even higher end hardware.

MS is redesigning their API, to work more effectively across multiple variations of hardware, e.g. Snapdragon (ARM).

If it is implemented on the Xbox One, (which seems to be the case), it will mean that the soft...

dGPU, isn't likely to happen, since the Die (APU) has been looked countless times by various people, and MS has even stated they don't have a hidden GPU.

However, like with everything hardware related, more so now than what it used to be like in the 80's,90's, and the 00's, firmware/software is becoming more important than the actual hardware.

You can heavily optimize the hardware, more so now than that was previously available from the ...

GDC is more of a developers meeting, than an actual showing of games, although some publishers/hardware manufactures use it for more than that.

I don't see MS making a loss on their console, it's £400 here, with Titanfall*

They are doing a similar thing that Sony did with the PS3 whereby they will start selling it at a lower price point, as long as they can make a profit.

*Titanfall, does not cost £42 either, that's VAT (TAX), plus costings they add onto it.

Most PS4, and Xbox One titles are £55 here, well RRP anyway, but that;s the not the ACTUAL cost o...

TF wouldn't be able to sell anywhere near the sales of CoD, not for a new IP anyway.

CoD, and CoD 2 didn't do that well when compared to later iterations, I don't think EA or Respawn where expecting massive sales numbers like CoD.

Both companies are making money on their consoles, the only difference is Sony is gaining market share.

However, much like the PS3 and 360 everything can change.
