Numbers, which I bet the majority of which don't really know what they actually mean.
Here's the thing which people who aren't software devs fail to comprehend, hardware isn't based on numbers not since multi-core CPU's came about, why? because you can have a dual core CPU running at 1.8Ghz, processing data slower than a 1.8 64Bit processor.
Hardware isn't as important as it once was, firmware, O.S, op...
@torchic
"you don't need to go to university and study computer engineering for 4 years to know that difference in power between PS4 and Xbox One will never reach a state of parity, especially due to the chasm between the two. hardware is exactly that, HARDware and can't change. software is more than capable of doing the job for Microsoft but not while the hardware gap between the two is initially this large.
I'm not sure what this dev is tr...
Xbox uses DirectX 3D a custom subset of whatever DX that is available.
The Xbox 360 used DX3D 9.0, however they did some modifications to the subset that allowed it to use some of the DX3D 10 features.
In this instance, DirectX 12 is a more optimized version of DX11, and the Xbox One is more than capable of utilizing some if not all of it's features.
I think you need to comprehend that hardware is hardware, but with firmware/software it c...
Well most developers use more powerful GPU's, than what is available in PC market, or in consoles.
Debugging, testing, the SDK etc all have to be held in memory, and need to be fast enough to process the data.
Also this was to show how easily it was to optimize a game for DX.
You aren't going to see much of a difference between the two, what DX12 is all about is lowering the amount of CPU/ and in some cases GPU resources by using a resource table.
For instance you can have a tree change the location, the look of the tree and the colour pallet by using a simple code.
Think of it this way, like NAT (Network Allocation Table), each computer (node), is held in a table with it's address, the switch/router can be configured so t...
If you have a DX11 card, D12 will work on it. According the blurb on the DX12 press release.
Oh and frankly speaking I don't think MS will just keep DX12 only on Windows 8.
It's due to a number of reasons, they have had crossplatform gaming before, and it wasn't very successful/balanced, PC gamers always have an advantage.
The other reason, is because Xbox Live is a closed platform, which in increases security.
Cannot wait for this game tbh, wish it came out sooner though.
Sony wouldn't sell their main product, which they have invested many decades in, hence the restructuring, the lay offs etc.
Sony has no intention of letting the PlayStation go, that's why they sold Viao, so on and so forth.
They make more money from PS, than quite a lot of their other lines.
The old age adage can be said here, Sony is putting all it's eggs in one basket, will this pay off is another matter.
It's an engine, that NEVER has been used by developers, nor by us the consumers, and it's been around for years.
They use the same demo for every video, and show not much else.
Pause between saying Xbox, and on.
If you say it in a sentence, the Xbox often ignores you.
Hence why Sony is putting everything into PlayStation.
So you have already foreseen the future have you?
It's been a few months into the Xbox One's/PS4's life cycle, and you have already declared a 'winner'.
I find it amusing that people say such shit, without understanding business, it's not about sales it's about profits you can sell hundreds and millions of products, but if you aren't making money on it then it's pointless.
Fanboys in general really, they always seem to have the sheep mentality, rather just enjoying their form of entertainment for what it is...entertainment.
I would say having a launch of a game, with some minor hitches and not having several days without being able to play a game, a massive improvement.
Oh, and no I don't read MisterX's blog, however I know about software, and hardware, oh and networking.
DX12 is a big deal, in fact it would be a big deal for ANY hardware to get a very highly optimized API, which utilizes less resources.
Bringing up RROD which by the way happened at t...
Well considering they use a rendering farm to render the models, yes they are going to look great.
After they create the models and are happy with them, they lower the pixel count, so that they can achieve what they want with the game/hardware etc.
Although many people think PC's/consoles have unlimited power, they have massive limitations, compared to what servers have.
A films CGI can use a million polygons just for a face of a chara...
That has never ever been used, or seen by actual press nor developers.
Sam Lake wasn't the writer, nor works for Crytek, however I think with a lot more better game direction and a much better story it would have been a good game.
It felt like it sort of went from different ideas too many times, and gameplay decisions got effected by it as well.
Say what you will about the gameplay, but the graphics looked amazing.
Activision go where the money is, and since EA and MS have partnered this time, Activision has gone with the other company 'Sony'.
This always happens every generation, if EA does a deal with Sony, Activision go with MS and vice versa.
