Them giving indie games on PS4 is a way to help support the indie developers and keep the Indie community thriving, Sony is paying the indie developers each time they give a indie game with PS+. I really think that is most of the reason for sticking with indie games.
I don't really buy that many indie games so I rarely get a game I already have. Sometimes I get an Indie game that I really enjoy.

People forget that it is not completely up to Sony or Microsoft, it's up to the developers and publishers ultimately, Sony can offer to allow it it but unless the developer/publishers want to do it, it doesn't matter. First party exclusives can't have cross platform play with other consoles.

The PS4 version of Drive club has not changed or been hindered because of their being a PSVR version, not so smart guy. Those are only changes made to the VR version of the game not the PS4 base game version.
I would be willing to bet that PS4 sale increase, the Xbox One, Wii U, Playstation Vita and 3DS will be where the 10% decrease in sales come from.
