I would agree, especially since the first generation xbox 360's had no HDMI and were breaking down like crazy the one year allowed them to recover in time for the PlayStation 3.
As with the online, it's the same as it was from launch, it's just that developers add more features now, unlike with Xbox Live having everything set up by Microsoft.
These designs are so stupid, most of them are so small I don't even think a drives, heatsink fans, CPUs / GPUs, HDDs, or anything else in a console nowadays would even remotely fit. The other thing is that the functionality and aesthetics are at such a poor quality the people designing don't know a lick of design.
You do realize a company will never say their product is not as good as the competitor's. I just don't understand why people thought Sony was arrogant and now think Microsoft is, hate the game not the player.
This is why we have journalists to filter what is bullshit versus what is truth. Would you tell your potential customers to go to the competitor's while you lose money?
Because you don't work for the company it doesn't mean it won't effect you. It would suck if TV only had one channel or a movie theatre only had one showing.
What I find odd is that Microsoft never really focused on games, but rather focused on stealing other platform's thunder. What I mean by this is that they get time-exclusives whether it's DLC or a franchise that was normally on one platform. While companies like Sony are more focused on gaming even when pushing multimedia features.

The PS3 was only a hundred more dollars than the XBOX 360, it baffles my mind that people think $499.99 is so different than $599.99 but will buy phones in the $999.99 range. On top of that XBOX Live $59.99 and rechargeable batteries unless you wanted to pay for standard ones all the time it would even out.

I say with next generation it's safer to wait, but as with this current generation it was better being first. A lot of buyers were naive about HD content, multimedia devices, and digital content. Xbox live only has a price because of the network topology, they hold their own servers kind of like persistent online games with subscriptions. Yes their is a portion that is profit with each user, but it's mainly their to keep the servers up and running. So Xbox live alone won't keep the company a float alone, the more users the more extensive the servers can be.
The thing about the price too it was only $100.00 more than the XBOX 360's price point. With all the stuff you buy to get it going like batteries, Xbox live membership, and any thing else I'm forgetting would be more than $100.00. The author doesn't know about game design, open world games means that the player has two or more branching paths they can take while a sandbox game has two or more branching paths and unrelated activities to do.
With that aside if Watch Dog can do what Grand Theft Auto 5 can do with its level of quality, then Watch Dog will be a more promising experience.

I was thinking the same thing, updates are always free, like PlayStation 3 / XBOX 360 operating system updates changing designs or adding features. It never made any sense to me when people say the update is free.

If it was updated, it was updated, but the PlayStation 3 already had that from the get go when I was using the XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3 for Netflix.
The one thing that baffles me still to this day is that people still bring up pricing, it was only one hundred dollars more than the xbox 360 at launch.
