Everyone probably demanded more money for the next game, that shoots the cost of development through the roof. Once you resign onto the next contract there's usually a raise if your last game sold by the truck full. Plus the team was probably way larger this time with more networking programmers and testers since this is the first online game in the GoW series.

The price will definitely not be less than 500 bucks for the highest end model. A low end model with a subscription is a possibility, I would never ever pay a subscription fee for a console, you'll easily make up that price after owning the console for 3 years or so.

The only thing Killzone hasn't done to outdo competitors is sell more. That's it. It has trounced every other FPS this generation in terms of graphics and gameplay, yet the haters scream louder than the fans unfortunately, them being usually Halo and Call of Duty fans, so Killzone doesn't get its due.
Hopefully with the next iteration being a launch title for PS4, Killzone will finally get the attention and sales it deserves for being a brilliant masterpiece.

LOL seriously, that guy was relentlessly douchy, arrogant and belligerent, anyway, and if he's going to be mouthing off about details that haven't been confirmed by Microsoft yet, he deserves to be fired! There are obviously confidentiality agreements signed into everyone's contract, so you can't just go around divulging your company's 5 year plans to competitors, they have these things for a reason.
Sony could've upgraded a ton of stuff if gamers were willing to spend 600 to 900 bucks on a new console, we could've had a super beast. All the whining that gamers do these days results in gimped consoles, Sony can only lose so much money per unit without going bankrupt. If you want better this and better that, you would be best letting Sony know you're willing to pay for it, because nothing comes for free these days.
