Yuck. I would hate to have you in my camp on this subject.
You're doing it right now! Stay on freaking message if you want to talk about something else. "THE feminists". Is this a nationality, a rock band, what? Hilarious.
No, talk about it all you want if you want to keep talking about misogyny and proving everyone else in the public arena right about the people and viewpoints we keep letting hang around in our community (60 upvotes for Robochobo and 40 for Lord Sloth!). I sleep with lots of people for all sorts of good reasons. Mostly because its fun. She didn't commit any crime and you look bad for being focused on her having sex. Grow the heck up. Sex. Personal. Not a big deal. Grow up. She wasn't y...
One issue at a time, please! Also, are you really concerned about those two cases? I bet you could find support for pursuing the guilty parties. Wait a second...You just wanted to derail this argument by citing vaguely related anecdotes? Does that even make sense to you? It shouldn't. You just made a logical fallacy called Red-Herring-reductio-ad-absurd um-Reverse No-True-Scotsman. Well. One of those is the real one. Are you really defending people's rights to make death threats? You ...
I think his point wasn't that playing any specific game causes violence, vitriol, etc., rather that if you're sending deathreats, spouting hateful vitriol, doxxing because of games in general, that you should unplug and step away for a bit. Just a statement regarding normal human perspective. Not "political rhetoric". Although that does make it sound awfully cool and nefarious.
Dang! Sorry. If I had a spare it would be yours.
Just jumped on. Game looks amazing, totally fun to play hank! I definitely needed to develop a monster strategy, though.
@johndoe11211
You know what I find interesting? I (and many others) show concern about something and I'm labeled a "white knight" or "concern troll" or "social justice warrior." How absurdly cynical. What kind of world do you want to live in where people who care are actively maligned? I care about inequality and injustice and yes, that very much includes the media/corporate corruption that gamersgate is concerned with. However, now gg (and t...
Hilarious!
That trailer is such a teaser. I want to see some gameplay, yo!
I think there's plenty of gg supporters that engage in plenty of misogynistic viewpoints. It's a little too easy to say we can wash our hands of the embarrassing elements because a couple might be trolls. There are WAY more than a couple trolls making anti-women statements in these forums. They need to be corrected or any serious discussion loses credibility. This article isn't exactly a smoking gun, either.
Sweet. After responding to you before on another article and seeing this now, I know you are a low-life trouble-makin' Troll. You aren't helping anything dude. You are probably capable of being a better person. I don't know you, I haven't liked the things I've seen from you, but I would guess you can do better things with your life. Start soon, friend! You'll like being cool and nice, trust me.
This is all so embarrassing. If gamersgate was really worried about "ethics in journalism" they should have turned the lens on all media sources. This is a small subset of a larger media fail in our society. I'm all for taking corruption to task, but game journalism is small fry. What really should worry everyone, is that MRAs and anti-feminist conspiracy crap has insinuated themselves into the gaming community without being soundly condemned to all hell. I don't want gaming...
This is a really good article. There are social expectations in media on both men and women (especially in terms of physicality) that are at least misleading and more often damaging. This really isn't a men vs women problem, it's a problem of media depiction of perceived value versus how we actually exist in the world.
The only way to reclaim GG (although I think it may be too negative at this point) is for the community to call out the idiots using misogynistic language, threats, and terrible personal opinions about women to make some sort of point. That ruins ALL our credibility on this issue. So does engaging in conspiracy theories. Call out the negative, reactionary elements or the whole case sinks.
Let me walk you through this: 1) If someone has to repeatedly use a "mute" button, that means there was a problem. That's not a good solution to a culture problem regardless. 2) I am not victimized, although many, many, many women who are good people are sharing their negative experiences. This means there's a problem that DOES exist despite your lack of experience with it. You think you understand a woman's viewpoint, but you clearly lack the ability to understand someon...
Well, scatpants. I sure have seen women treated both aggressively negative and aggressively hit on in games. Maybe that changes your complex worldview. You notice how you expanded it to "all women" and minimized it to "one asshole, one time"? You've got a serious logic problem on your hands. Your language is brutish and marginalizing. Luckily I can see past that and see that all you're really doing is whining.
What on earth is your problem with social justice? Some people have expressed having a hard time in our community and you're spending your time attacking them? I just don't get you. You're only thinking with your rage.
I don't know why I do it either. A scary game is way scarier than a movie to me. I think the immersion has a lot to do with it. I got so freaked out watching P.T. play through I don't think I can do it. I'm totally gonna do it. Maybe. So scary...
Nah. It's gonna fizzle out within a month
and then GG can focus on corruption in gaming journalism. They had better after all of this!
