@PoSTedUP

"that was to get camo suits too right?"

Yes and no. Some camo had special requirements such as completing certain missions or getting certain rankings. The staffing/research was indirectly related because meeting some of the conditions to unlock certain camos required researching the right materials for the mission. I don't recall a single camo that required direct research. However, also keep in mind some weapons and items affected yo...

@One_Eyed_Wizard

I'm assuming Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain will be similar to Peace Walker in regards to the Motherbase. So, having the POWs and VIPs carry over to Phantom Pain will give you a BIG head start.

The staff in Peace Walker was responsible for researching (aka unlocking) new weapons and items to use in missions as well as making the Motherbase larger. Higher level items carry more ammo, do more damage, and add in functionality such as silence...

I still want an embedded video editor on the PS4 as well as direct to YouTube uploading or at the very least an export to USB option.

I currently have an EPIC 15 minute capture from AC4 that I only need 2 minutes of right at the very end. I don't have a Facebook account (out of principle), so the video is currently just sitting on my PS4 until I have the means to get it off and edit it down.

Capture devices don't work for me, because I usually capture...

"like Forza 5, for example."

It's funny you said that, becuase the first thing that came to my mind reading "It's up to individual developers" was "Explain Forza".

This dreck (Forza) is from Microsoft's own studio, right? If your OWN studio is cutting corners to achieve 1080p/60fps, there is definitely a problem.

Microsoft need to accept the power differences and put the metal to the wh...

"what about the re-release of FF7 on Steam? Yeah, Sony does own the rights to FF7."

That is because the PC version already existed to be ported to Steam. Sony published the console version and hold rights to versions on consoles. Square (as Eidos) published the PC version in 1998.

So, as far as CONSOLE releases, Square must ask Sony f...

Well they are definitely using them in AC4 in my experience. Every other session I need to mute 1-2 people because they have an open Mic because they are either using the included headset/earpiece or have a PS4 camera with the Mic completely open.

I think it is mostly people with cameras because it is intangible white noise most of the time - room noise picked up by the camera.

I did have one match with what sounded like an infantile pre-teen and an equally i...

@minimur12

Hard drive manufacturers are to blame for the space difference. For YEARS they have described drives as having so many GB or TB of space and chalking up loss to formatting. The truth is HDD manufactures work with Base-10 numbers, but computers are binary and work with Base-2 numbers (or squares thereof Base-8, octal, and Base-16, hexadecimal) which Base-10 numbers don't easily divide into.

So reduce to bytes (10^3 = 1,000):
500GB

Well, Sony still owns the rights to Final Fantasy VII since they funded a good chunk of its development as well as publishing it.

For Square to release a FF7 remake on anything BUT the PS3 or PS4 would cost them a good chunk of money to buy out the IP rights or they may even have to give up a large share of the profits on ALL the versions sold, regardless of platform.

Part of me wants a remake just because it would be close to Final Fantasy VII: Advent Childr...

Manic, I hate to argue against you, but I have to side with Hicken on the look argument.

I agree with you about the fact that games and how fun they are should be all that matters (that would be a hell of a utopia if it truly existed). Hell, I even tell people who are torn between systems:
Which has more games you'd "sell your left nut for"? (it's a common idiom - not being sexist - look it up)
That is the system for you - regardless of resol...

@Mister_Dawg

CVG is NITPICKING. Many of the so called features they discuss are either irrelevant to the core gaming experience (something Sony has made clear is their main focus) or were announced from the very beginning as a LONG TERM goal. LONG TERM DOES NOT mean 1 YEAR...LONG TERM means LATE in the console's lifespan.

Have fun with your dwindling bubbles.

A companion app that is actually useful!

AC4's was OK in that it just saved me from pausing the game to go to the map and mark the treasures and pickups.

The screens actually confirm to me that this is going to probably function and play very much like Peace Walker with the missions and Motherbase management. I wonder if airlifting (capturing) personnel got carried over.

So much for the short play time people were complaining about. S-Ran...

The two are kept separate. Also, if you have signed up for Plus all your PS4 saves are uploaded to cloud storage by default. Make sure to manage through the "Storage" in the settings menu to avoid in snafu's.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say NO ONE. I think the more realistic thing to happen (IF Microsoft let Xbox loose) is that the Xbox brand would become independent.

Would they survive without Microsoft's money? Who knows, but without a large advertising budget they would need to rely on free advertising in the form of word of mouth.

I agree with Sevir on the numbers. Amazon.co.jp has something like 2Mil guaranteed pro-order allocations and as far as I know Amazon and Sony have a deal on those specific preorders to be fulfilled day one.

I disagree a little with the WiiU statement, but partially agree with the move to handhelds. Japan's population, for the most part, spends a majority of their "free" time in transit from one location to another, so the handheld market flourishes in this kind ...

No one company NEEDS the other. However, the market DOES NEED competition. You can still have competition though with just two companies. You only need a third if the two get complacent.

I've always said the gaming market is only big enough for 2 and a half companies -- meaning the half is generally the guy in third feeding on the scraps of what is left but also acts as a check and balance to keep the other two from becoming complacent in their positions because a threat ...

@Bathyj

I think Lens of Truth has been voted down enough on this site to not show up again. That or they are unable to knitpick their way to bias the Xbox version in their favor.

Also, I find it funny that Kojima STILL finds a way to make the PlayStation version more favorable. He has always had a PlayStation bias since the PS1 and if it were up to him there would never be an Xbox version of ANY kind, but I'm sure some Konami higher-ups are trumping Kojim...

I believe these are going to be the two deal breakers for some. Looking at the entire list I'm guessing, at least until I get the game myself, these are going to require the most skill to achieve.

Mass Effect says hi. :)

Exclusive is just a word that goes away with poor sales and time when a 3rd party developer/publisher is involved.

Money can buy exclusivity yes, BUT money can also buy its way back to multi-platform/non-exclusivity . Contracts are just pieces of paper that can be changed or invalidated with enough of another piece of paper, money.

EVERYONE and EVERYTHING has a price. It's only a matter of what it is worth to those...

"here is an idea of through: what if psn-Now is free with psn-plus? would that be the final nail on coffin?"

No, that would be Microsoft's board of directors forcing them to dump the Xbox brand, which as of late has been a talking point.

Microsoft's problem is that they thought, because of the Wii's astounding out of the blue success, that marketing to the casuals and revolving their system around Kinect 2.0 would allow them to mimic the...
