I doubt either PS4 or X1 buyers will be unimpressed with their consoles.
People do need to decide (on their own) what kind of games they are most interested in and base their decisions on that rather than 180's, marketing, and web sites like N4G.
Why? If MS can only produce 5 million units for the first 3 months. If they sell all 5 million then they are doing fine. You don't have to sell them all on day one...
People should be more worried about when supply becomes more abundant then demand. There is this little event called "Christmas" in the Christian world and there will be a lot of people buying consoles for that event rather than on day one.
Date set... I now know when I will be sick at in late fall!
If your Arabic this would probably be important.
But, then again how many Arabic (only) gamers are out there?
I find the gaming press is grasping at straws on both sides. MS announced that they were only in 13 markets for launch and the gaming press went into a frenzy. Those 13 markets provide 80% of worldwide sales probably.
This is nothing compared to Lair. Lair was just a bad game from the start. Repeatedly delayed and didn't live up to anything.
People aren't saying Ryse is great, but they aren't saying it is downright bad.
Given that they also announced Elop from nokia is taking over the devices and services division where xbox sits that will probably be a big thing.
Given the size of games next generation (Probably about 15-20 GB each) this is will mean a 500 GB drive will get about 30-50 games on it. I hate managing drive space!
I never said MS and Sony were the same companies.
Xbox isn't about money as much as it is about mindshare and having MS products in the living room. It is important that MS retains a place in the living room.
These kind of articles were coming out when Sony was struggling... Now it's Microsoft's turn...
Not much should be read into them...
1) The DRM position offers benefits to people who buy their games online. Ex. Family features and always available through the cloud.
2) The price point of $60 is not a problem. Why do so many game devts and publishers go broke? If anything, their works are being under valued.
Gamers have to realize that this is a limited sized market but requires a high up front investment. If devts and pubs don't get return on the investment they will take their mon...
In five years, people will look back and say MS was trying to do the right thing. We can already see that almost all of the AAA games announced this gen require online for the features people want. And publishers turning games into micro-transaction messes that really won't matter whether you buy new or used.
I know the haters will disapprove like crazy, but call me on it in 5 years...
It doesn't suggest MS is farther along than Sony. FCC certification is only one passed step of many that need to happen to get a console out the door.
We never had a date to begin with... Another case of rampant speculation on N4G becomes a fact somehow...
If I had a buck for every misguided article on N4G I would be a billionaire by now...
infamous is just another iteration in the series. I played infamous 1 and 2 and didn't finish either because I didn't think it was as fun as Crackdown.
There hasn't been enough seen of The Order to really know how the game will turn out but Sony Santa Monica is a solid studio so I expect it to be quality.
Deep Down looks interesting. We will see... Not enough to really know yet.
But, it's not like there are no games coming ...
Epic make consoles winners or losers... They don't need to side with anyone.
Gears of War was a huge exclusive for MS last generation. And I think it was the biggest reason MS was able to stay in the race with Sony.
Funny thing is I don't hear anyone talking about PS4 exclusives that xbots want.
So what was Division exclusive DLC / features, Peggle + PvZ Garden Warfare timed exclusivity, FIFA 14 for euros that pre-order, and Fighter Within if not a bunch of game announcements and surprises?
Sad.
If marketing is what sways gamers rather than actual exclusives and third party game support for the platforms then gaming is becoming a sad state of affairs.
I just need to know so I can plan my sick (sorry) vacation around it.
VR has been attempted time after time... People simply don't want to have a special headset on them to play games.
While the concept could be useful, it is not going to be a system seller.
