Indie devts will play an important role in the industry no doubt. Are they the future though? No...
Indie devts can't make Call of Duty, Killzone, Gears of War, God of War, Halo, Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Final Fantasy, Dead Space, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Battlefield, Deadrising, Unchartered etc. They simply would not get the backing and don't have the capabilities.
It is like music and movies. Indies play a role there too, but th...
Yep, they will update everyone right after LAst Guardian ships!
LOL...
Sony, they promise things far earlier then they every think of shipping/releasing...
Sony: We won't apologize for taking away BC on PS3, dual-boot on PS3, pretty much abandoning home, not giving anything really new for move, having your personal information stolen on PSN, free PSN for multi-player, and lying to you about the real state of Last Guardian... Just buy our console
Fanboys: Wow, PS4 is the greatest system ever, Sony is the only company that can be trusted
*Sony getting hype from blind faith fanboys*
I was at a Gamestop last week and a guy was talking with his significant other. He said he was getting a PS4 because X1 would not play used games.
Sending a newsletter out is not desperation it is informing people that have still not got the message.
MS still has cards to play. They haven't really shown that much themselves yet.
I will be buying both consoles so don't put that sh*t on me...
Yes, it is cheaper. I don't understand how that is an advantage though. A Ford is cheaper than a Ferrari, does that make it better?
On paper it is more powerful. But, the most powerful console has not sold the best for at least the two previous generations. And I don't understand how that is an advantage.
As for the exclusive games... Launches never have exceptional games. But when you compare true exclusives... I think X1 has a better and more ...
I supported the original policies... I don't like the new ones...
But, X1 is my platform of choice over PS4...
I like that MS is willing to listen and change. Even if it means they changed away from what I like.
That's not blind loyalty. That is liking the behavior of the vendor I chose for my first next gen console....
I will buy Sony's PS4 when it is much cheaper...
I will not be getting this. I love my Vita more than my 3DS but, I just don't see a need for this.
Now the redesigned Vita? That is coming home day 1!
Sony fanboys spend more time talking about Titanfall then they do about the games actually shipping on the PS4...
And for the record I assume that Titanfall will come to the PS4... I expect it June 2015.
The wildcard is: What was the deal between MS and EA when Bioware was bought out? Mass Effect was under a exclusivity contract with MS for the first three games. MS agreeing to Mass Effect to go multi-platform had to cost EA something.... Maybe Titanfall...
MS is already sold out at most retailers for launch. Both Sony and MS will struggle to keep up this holiday.
I don't see how MS has a momentum problem...
2 X1's reserved, but I'm buying all my games digitally now!
First rationale comment I have read in this thread...
Ryse 2 will make the next God of War look like a last gen game.
Not that God of War will look bad, it will probably be nice not amazing no matter how many effects Sony Santa Monica list that are in the game. It's a fact that the X1 has a better overall architecture than the PS4, more so than 360's overall architecture was better than PS3, so expect Microsoft's exclusives to be noticeably better.
I showed 10 non-gamers images from both consoles...
None saw any significant detail differences between the two sets of PS4 and X1 images....
The key is more about the market potential... What ability does the market have to buy the console and how many will probably be sold in that market.
Sony will get more sales in the "fringe" markets, but outside of Europe that probably won't amount to anything significant.
Sales of PS4 and X1 may actually be closer than 360 and PS3 sales today because neither are launching (currently) in Japan. As we all know 360 is routed on a weekly basis b...
Personally, owning over 2,000 games on my Xbox 360, and buying many both at retail and digitally...
The new policies would've saved me a crap load of money! (Buy retail, get digital free)
I would think MS would want people like me happy... Not the people who only buy a few retail games per year. They don't make as much money on that crowd as they do from me.
I have not been disappointed in 360's games lineup. You also have to remember 360 is a year older than PS3... So, as I see it right now, I don't see anything impressive for PS3 exclusivity next year...
I think there is still a lot of support for 360... And next year Titanfall is coming to 360 as well. So, you can't really say MS is walking away from 360 by bringing the hottest exclusive to it in 2014... Along with securing 3rd party support for Destiny, Dragon...
No, console gamers have it backwards... Steam, the Apple App/Music Store, the Android App Store, Windows 8 App Store, etc are all digital only distribution with no resale of second hand software.
Console gamers seem to think that the status quo is the norm, when actually it is the exception.
Yes, they start as indies, but they grow up and require a lot more capital to create their games.
Big publishers have that capital not indie supporters.
